About this listen

Dovetailing on the success of Training for the New Alpinism and Patagonia's own emphasis on all mountain use, Training for the Uphill Athlete translates theory into methodology to allow you to write your own training plans and coach yourself to endurance goals.

Steve House, one of the best mountaineers, and his coach Scott Johnston, an Olympic-level cross country ski coach, along with Kilian Jornet, hands down best endurance athlete at this time, present training principles for the multisport mountain athlete who regularly participates in a mix of distance running, ski mountaineering, and other endurance sports that require optimum fitness and customized strength.

This is an authoritative but accessible training manual for athletes and coaches who feel most alive in the mountains or pushing the uphill ascent. Distance running, ski mountaineering, skimo, and skyrunning are becoming increasingly popular all over the world, and are often undertaken by the same person during a single year. This book collects the scientifically backed and athlete-tested wisdom and experience of three of the best uphill athletes and coaches and extrapolates both to educate outdoor athletes of all stripes to perform their best.

This book is better in paper version

Unfortunately this doesn’t work well as an audio book as you really need to see the reference material that is constantly being referred to. Very dry when consumed as audio only & much of the value is lost

Great content - but NO PDF

as other said, you need the PDF to benefit from the tables/charts and plans explained. They say at the beginning there is a PDF to download but there isn't. Such a shame as the content is solid - but you lose the lasting value.

Great book but no pdf!

Like everybody else here , it's a bit of a joke not including the reference material. Are we expected to buy twice?

Great book, but....

I've just started the book for the second time straight after finishing it the first time, I've logged on to Audible to download the necessary accompanying PDF and it doesn't exist! This must be an oversight, come on Audible, please work your magic and contact the publishers and ask for it to be added

No PDF Attachment

Great book as expected but there is no PDF attachment to reference to. I think this is probably a mistake but I really need the graphs, exercises ect.

one of its kind

very informative with great stories. A great companion to plan your years ahead. Especially if you do not have any coach in reach.

Not for Audible

Sorry to say, that though the book is the best book for runner, it's not worth getting it through audible.
you need to have a paper formot to it.
the info is a gold mine, and you need to save it to go back and read it, learn from it and put it to practice.
please buy a book and audible format together..

Does not work as an audiobook

This is a fascinating book with some great technical content interspersed with athlete stories to maintain interest. However the "manual" aspect of it does not work in an audio format with tables of weekly training plans being read out. The intro of the book makes reference to downloadable PDF for the tables but after contacting Audible technical support I discovered there is no intended PDF to accompany the book and the TFTUA website does not have any additional content that would accompany the book (unless you want to pay for a training plan). So unless you want to buy the paperback or Kindle version as well I'd skip this book.
