Summary
Maggie Costello uncovers an assassination plot to kill the tyrannical new president.
A blockbuster thriller from No.1 Sunday Times bestselling author Sam Bourne.
The unthinkable has happened…
The United States has elected a volatile demagogue as president, backed by his ruthless chief strategist, Crawford ‘Mac’ McNamara.
When a war of words with the North Korean regime spirals out of control and the President comes perilously close to launching a nuclear attack, it's clear someone has to act, or the world will be reduced to ashes.
Soon Maggie Costello, a seasoned Washington operator and stubbornly principled, discovers an inside plot to kill the President – and faces the ultimate moral dilemma. Should she save the President and leave the free world at the mercy of an increasingly crazed would-be tyrant – or commit treason against her Commander in Chief and risk plunging the country into a civil war?

Excellent story with poor ending.
Wow this books really good. The only problem is, reality seems to be worse than fiction. Great book, a shame about the ending.

A good read!
The only thing that I found distracting was the narrators attempt of different accents. Really enjoyed this audiobook though!

Super story
A totally believable tale especially in today's American political climate. My first book by these authors, it won't be my last.

Pastiche meets satire for the US mind
Ever want it laid out why there are two opposing sides in the USA? Ever wonder just what people saw in bragging, lies and hatred? Here are the battle-plans; the mind sets; the hidden traits.
A superb thriller stripteasing the political divide with the need to actually do something.
Apart from the eternally mispronunciation and head-bowing with the word 'Ireland', the narration was excellent.
Very pleasantly surprised.
A really good read!.

A fun and topical summer thriller
A good idea from Jonathan Friedland writing as Sam Bourne. Clearly a take on the current POTUS this conspiracy thriller follows a dense protagonist as she uncovers a web of conspiracy both against and by the President.
A good tale but made rather comedic by the reader's performance. Characters bellow. Characters shout in OVER ENUNCIATED sentences which a more mature performance would face found more nuance. The character of McNamara in particular is howlingly badly read. If you can let that go the story in and of itself is a fun listen
