Summary

In a world where a virus has spread turning most of the population into flesh-eating monsters, there are two friends partying it up in New Orleans when the infection hits. Far away from home, they are trapped and trying to make sense of all that has happened with the help of new friends and enemies along the way. Zombies aren't the only thing to fear.

Good story with a female lead

I got lost a bit with who all the characters were to start with and still wasnt sure by the end if I liked some of the males or not but a good story and I'll get the next one.

Average Zombie fic

This had the makings of a good series, but the author separated the characters far too early in the story before the audience had a chance to connect with them, which majorly hindered the character development and therefore my investment in their stories. Such a shame, as I don't mind a bleak storyline if there are enough interesting characters and a bit of variation in tone/interaction. As it was I wasn't that interested in Bailey's solo escapades with the kid, with the others nowhere to be seen.

The narrator was ok, but kept randomly shouting some of her lines (not even lines that were meant to be dramatic - she'd just start a sentence jarringly loud which messed up the flow of the story).

Not sure I'll bother with book 2.

Has potential, but dreary

A post apocalypse Zombie. Like too many Zombie books, no explanation as to why the infected are magically able to move when they no longer breathe.
Apart from that, it just dismal and miserable. I have read many far better, Black Tide Rising and Adrian's undead diary being some examples.
