Summary
Two season tickets. One genius idea. Zero interest in a relationship.
The plan is simple: a brand-new, hot, preferably funny, definitely single male will fill one of those seats for every Bears game at Soldier Field. And I'll fill the other.
I can't think of a better way to use the season passes I'd bought for my ex-husband. I am a woman of plans, and this one's foolproof. Until Zach Bowen offers to be my practice round.
He's infuriating. Presumptuous and overbearing. And absolutely, undeniably gorgeous. Any woman with a heartbeat would be attracted to him, and mine picks up speed every time he speaks. But as I said, I'm a woman of plans - and I'm not backing down on this one.
One night. One game. And then, his time's up. He can try to change the rules, but here's the truth: He can't win if he's playing the wrong game.
Contains mature themes.

Lovely story told from both sides
Lovely story told from both sides, funny at times, emotional at times … happy ending, even if it was a bit over the top

Wonderful love story with great narration
First and foremost… great narration. I always like Hobbs as a male narrator and Virgina did a great job too.
The story itself is beautiful. It handles the delicate subject of recovering after the death and betrayal of a partner and the effect that has on a person, but it does so with hope. The story feels believable and the devastation the MFC is tangible and well written. Sure it feels like the MMC gets the short end of the stick a little too much every now and again, he’s been through shit too but handles it with a lot more maturity. However it all shows how important being surrounded by supporting people and family is and lends itself well to describing how a person deals with hardships.
Would truly recommend this book to anyone who wants a tear jerking HEA and a MMC that can single handedly revive a crushed belief in men and love. 🤩

Absolutely loved it!
🎧 Audiobook - The Wrong Game by Kandi Steiner
A re-read (or listen in this case!) for me, and a book that I love!
Gemma has 2 season tickets to her favourite football team’s home games, and one aim; to fill that empty seat each week with a new date. No relationships, no other dates, just some casual sex to get her back into the world of dating after the death of her husband. Then she meets Zack who wants to be her ‘test run’ and fill that first seat. She certainly doesn’t plan on the first guy she meets being THE guy…
Zack is a hopeless romantic. A lover of romcoms, chick lit, big grand gestures and love in general. When he meets Gemma he gets that instalove and is determined to be her date to every Bears game and wear down her defences. He is sweet and caring, understanding and patient, funny and sexy, and totally what Gemma needs!
Gemma’s fear of love and trusting a man again is completely understandable after her previous husband Carlo! He really did a number on her, and her best friend Belle is a real saviour for her. I can relate a lot to Gemma’s need for control to keep her anxiety at bay too.
Really sweet romance with a great plot line, and it’s a Kandi book so of course it’s got some great steamy scenes! Definitely one of her underrated books in my opinion 💜
Great narration on this one too, some of the audiobook narrators I find hard to listen to but this was was really well voiced!

Enjoyable and angsty story.
This is a Kandi Steiner book so the angst is inevitable but I loved the humour she threaded through this story.
I loved the meet cute and the whole premise of the season ticket tinder. There’s plenty of sadness in both the main characters backstory’s which brought the emotions into play.
Zac is such a cinnamon roll sweetheart who adores love and romcoms. He’s a family man through and through and his kindhearted personality is just what Gemma needed.
Gemma herself has been through some hard times. She’s just getting over the death of her cheating husband and trying to move on with her life. I must say, she handled that whole ordeal with way more decorum than I ever could!!
Really enjoyed seeing these two find and fall for each other whilst learning to open up their hearts.

poor ending ruined the story
I was along for the ride the whole wat through despite the numerous bad decisions the female lead was making. right until the end when the male lead made the most preposterous proposal considering the "trauma" the female had been dealing with.
with 3ish mins left I stopped listening.

sweet sports romance with a little angst
3.5⭐️ it was really cute, loved gemma & zack and the angsty aspect of it but wasn’t as gripped as i was with kandi’s other book, the concept was fun though of how they met and they were really sweet together.
tropes: sports romance, angsty, dislike/hate to love, romcom-y.
