Very detailed
An honest and detailed account of bloody history and politics. Narrator was excellent and presented feelings with ups and downs of the story.

Grim and informative
A grim and depressing account of a proxy war. Somehow the West manages to back the wrong side (again) and to not address the underlying corruption, greed and vested interests that drive such conflicts. The author is far-sighted in her observations and predictions. A detailed and insightful account.

The USA is so insular and it shows
This book has helped me understand why Afghanistan will always be a hellhole for outsiders. It was a great book to read but frustrating understanding world politics
