Excellent Introduction to Learn the History of Rom
I have traveled to Rome and spent much time there, and this civilization has always fascinated me, from the engineering marvels to their system of government and expansion. This book offers an exceptional review of the rise and fall of Rome. Most people believe Rome fell in a day when, in fact it was a gradual decline. The storytelling paints a great representation of life in the Roman Empire. The chapters on conquest and their military are fascinating.
I thought I knew a lot about Rome, but this book has taught me that there is so much more to learn. There are a lot of myths about Rome, and this book does a great job of separating myth from fact from the early years of the founding of Rome to its gradual decline; there is something that everyone can learn. The flow of the book is excellent; going from different chapters and ideas keeps you engaged.
This book is very well-researched and you can tell that the author spent a lot of time on research and is well educated on the Roman Empire and history in general. There a lot of accomplishments and milestones within the empire as well as prominent figures, and this book does a great job of going into detail about all of them in a way that is engaging and makes you want to keep listening. Reading some books can be tedious, like textbooks, but this one keeps your attention and makes you wish the book was longer. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to begin their journey learning about the Roman Empire or for those wanting more knowledge.
