Summary
Early in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant. While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia. There was nothing disguised about Jake. Including the fact he made a habit of making very bad decisions about who to give his love. But for Josephine and Jake, there was one person who adored them. One person who knew how to lead them to happiness. And one person who was intent on doing it. Even if she had to do it as her final wish on this earth.

Another great one from KA
KA books are on my pre-buy list at all times. I always buy the kindle version first then the audio to use in my office and when I'm travelling.
This is the first book in a new series and involves a shy, damaged woman who lives behind a shield and the man her grandmother knew would bring that wall down. Jake and Josie meet for the first time at the funeral of her grandmother Lydia. Josie doesn't know how she has never met Jake and his kids when they were so involved in Lydia life.

Amazing book
I read this book 10 years ago and have read it often since. But I finally purchased the audiobook to go with it and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The depth of emotion this book portrays it’s absolutely brilliant and is a credit to the author. The narrator did an awesome job as well. Highly recommend this series.

Wonderful
It’s book is wonderful. With such great characters it really makes you smile. With issues that life throws at you this book shows the story of Josie dealing with these. A brilliant performance.

KA does it again. Wow.
All I can say is ‘WOW’. There were so many facets to this story and so many real issues. I loved how is all came together and the amount of love shared among not only the main characters but their friends and families (ie James’s kids) was breathtaking. The relationships between Josie and her Grandmother even after her Grandmother’s death is everlasting. Again - Wow!!!!

Different reader
The book and story line is good, however I highly recommend another reader. I found myself thinking of reasons not to listen due to the reader.

Adorable and very touching!
This is an unconventional story. This includes the very catalyst by which the two main characters meet. This book keeps you guessing the whole way through. Whilst lulling you into a full sense of security, where you then believe you understand everything, before Ashley drops a very large bomb shell that flips the entirety of the story! It is a beautiful romance, whilst having an alpha male who has three kids; each of who are individually unique and wonderful and Josephine has two teenage kids of her own (I really hope Ashley will write a book for each of the kids - I want to know where they end up!) This is a book distinctly more mature than Ashley's other books where all the characters have seen much more of life, which simultaneously makes the book more grounded. Whilst the books starts: macabre, sombre and confused, this story progresses into battles and the reinvigoration of the protagonist as she turns her life around, being divorce, she doesn't let that word or her past define her and in the end she redefines herself! This story is not just a romance...It is a seamless story of self discovery and family.

sweet book if overlong
Any additional comments?
I read reviews that criticised the narration before I listened to this but I had no problems with the narrator and I have returned books before that I simply can't listen to. Not as raunchy and a slower pace than some of KA's books but a sweet enough story. Could have done with some editing as got a bit repetitive and have seen it criticised for the heroine giving up a jet set lifestyle for a wife and kids one, but then I have personally known jet-setters who have got bored with it and craved 'normality' especially those that have lived behind a mask as Josie does in this. Those that feel that way will also probably not like Jake, especially his going ballistic at the thought of his daughter dating while allowing his son to string along 5 girls, but then again life is often stranger than fiction and double standards seem especially easy for alpha males. For those reviewers that say Josie talks like an Englishwoman - you have been reading too much Jane Austen. Come visit the UK and hear us swear and drop vowels left, right and centre and see that we are not all educated to dictionary-swallowing levels.

needs a different voice
im one of KA's biggest fans and I loved this book but sadly not the audiobook. The reader, for me personally, ruined jakes part by managing to make him 'sound' more like an old man rather than a vibrant sexy man. It's a shame as this story was lovely and both deserved happiness. but the audio sadly was more annoying than enjoyable. Very unhappy to review unfavourably. .but the audiobooks are expensive enough to buy, even with tokens, not to be honest in recommending or not recommending.

awful narration
Would you try another book written by Kristen Ashley or narrated by Hollis McCarthy?
I would definitely read more books by this author, unfortunately the narration lets it down badly.
If you’ve listened to books by Kristen Ashley before, how does this one compare?
First time I have read anything by this author.
Do you think The Will needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No, the loose ends were tied up nicely.
Any additional comments?
On occasion the description of thoughts going through Josephine's mind were a little long winded and repetitive. Keeping it simple sometimes works best.
