Summary

Grady Summerville is facing a slow and agonizing death, but has come to terms with his disease and doesn’t fear dying. However, fate has other ideas, presenting him with a future thanks to Max Steele. Grady owes his very life to Max, and as his health improves, finds himself falling head over heels with his savior.

Max Steele has been forced to leave his pack and everyone he knows to move to the West Territory to be a blood donor for Grady. He knows it’s the right thing to do, but it doesn’t mean he has to like it.

As tensions escalate between the two packs, Max finds his loyalty tested and is torn between following his alpha, or following his heart.

If Max doesn’t make the sacrifice then it will be Grady making the ultimate sacrifice and paying with his life.

Another great instalment in the series

I am so invested in this series now. Book two, and I need book three ASAP.
First, you would not believe that two authors wrote this book. Not once did I think there wasn't a seamless transition of each part.

Second, great world, character and story building. It is a unique storyline, and it has kept me gripped all the way through. Again, not going to give anything away, but trust me, it's well worth a read.
That's what I wrote about book one, and seriously it still applies to book two, we have two different main characters, but the two from book one make lots of appearances in this book. So if you like shifters, love MM and love a good storyline, you will love this series.

I loved the characters and the story, just in case I didn't quite relay that.

Seriously good narration but as usual I had to speed up the narration to 1.50 on audible.

I’m ready for book three!

I read this story with my eyes when it was first published back in April 2022 and really enjoyed it. Because I had listened to the first one in the series, I was happy when I found out that this one was also available as an audiobook. Guy Veryzer does a good job with this audiobook but his voice isn’t for everyone. I have to increase my listening speed to 1.5 because he narrates way too slowly for my ears.

While you might be able to read this book as a standalone, I think you will enjoy it more if you read The Slow Death first. That book kind of sets up this story and you meet the characters who are the MCs in this book.

Max has agreed to give life-saving blood to Grady but he’s not particularly happy about leaving his pack. Grady is declining quickly from the slow death and he needs Max’s blood sooner rather than later. What happens when Max is connected to Grady for the life-saving transfusion surprises everyone but Max is too sick to realize what it really means.

Grady is a wonderful and caring person. His veterinary business was disrupted when he became ill and he hopes to reopen as his condition improves. He demonstrates his love of all creatures several times in this story. Max is caught between the necessity of helping Grady and doing what his pack leader wants him to do.

The Ultimate Sacrifice has a satisfying HEA for Max and Grady but the over-arching storyline won’t conclude until book three and I’m looking forward to reading it.

A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

Not as good as the first one

I liked the first book and enjoyed the narrator. I really have a fond memory of the first book.
Yet this time, I didn’t care for any of it.

I was bored.
I found the story ok-ish, in the “meh” kind. The same goes for the romance. I didn’t connect with the characters nor with story.
As for the narrator, I wasn’t a fan of his narration which baffled me since I remember liking him in the previous audiobook.

For me, this book ended up being a very average and forgettable read.
