Summary

'You'd think they'd do something about the taxi shortage,' he says. 'Especially with the missing women.'
Stranded on a dark road in the middle of the night, a young woman accepts a lift from a passing stranger. It's the nightmare scenario that every girl is warned about, and she knows the dangers all too well - but what other choice does she have?
As they drive, she alternates between fear and relief - one moment thinking he is just a good man doing a good thing, the next convinced he's a monster. But when he delivers her safely to her destination, she realizes her fears were unfounded.
And her heart sinks. Because a monster is what she's looking for.
She'll try again tomorrow night. But will the man who took her sister take the bait?

Love the ending of this one.
I always enjoy when Catherine Ryan Howard turns her coffee into books :). This one is no exception.
The ending seems a bit abrupt at first and then when you think about it , it’s perfect. It leaves a lot more hope than the true stories that inspired it. Better still we have been introduced to two female detective Gardaí who may appear in future novels ? Pretty please :)

Disappointing end
I thoroughly enjoyed this well written story but was very disappointed in the end as there were so many unanswered questions and this ruined it for me unfortunately

I have read and enjoyed all of Catherine's books. without giving it away its hard to say why I liked it. but it wasn't your typical ending.

I thought the story was very good, kept me hooked. I was upset with the ending but yet it is close to real life.. lots of women unfortunately go missing..

Twisty.
Strong opening, I loved the idea of the sister walking the streets at night trying to trap the man who she thinks took her sister and thought it was going to be a lot more of that until she found the one etc etc with then the other part dealing with the missing women / kidnapper in depth.
It wasn't in depth enough for me on that side only there were twists and turns but I have so many questions left unanswered, I feel like I have paused this midway through the last chapter rather than right the way through to the very end.
listened on audio great narration.
I will listen to more from this author as I like her writing style and characters.

Read as was reviewed in a Sunday paper
started off well but went round the houses a bit. Then, the build-up to the end was better only to be let down by a poor ending.

Outstanding!
5⭐️ Catherine Ryan Howard has done it again! This is the second book I have read from her after the “nothing man” which I thought couldn’t be topped! This book was absolutely incredible with twists and turns I didn’t know where it was going. The big twist at the end was so unexpected and I could not have predicted it. When Lucy’s sister Nikki goes missing she dedicates all her time to finding out where she is and is she linked to the other missing women in the area. I love the multiple perspectives on the cases and the various POVs. What a great story I will be reading more from this author as I love how the settings are in Ireland.

in awe
When I read the nothing man I had to lock my bedroom door and pray the killer wasn't in with me. The Trap is one amazing book, I just didn't sleep until I finished it and even then its playing around and around in my head. the story is addictive and the ending just wow. Catherine Ryan Howard is a utter genius, its a chilling fiction book based on reality. all I can say is you have to read this book
