Summary

Your thyroid gland is small but mighty. This little butterfly-shaped organ that sits in the front of your neck affects almost every organ in your body. You can thank it for regulating your body temperature, helping you lose or gain weight, aiding in your breathing, in developing your brain, controlling your cholesterol, supporting your heart, regulating menstrual cycles, keeping your skin healthy, and so much more.

When your thyroid stops working correctly, your body can experience some incredibly distressful and sometimes painful side effects. Sometimes the thyroid gets damaged and does not produce enough hormones for your body to function correctly. This is called hypothyroidism. It is often caused by an autoimmune disease, like Hashimoto's, and can cause you to gain weight, feel extremely tired, dry out your hair and skin, make you less focused, and slow down metabolism. On the other hand, your thyroid may become over-stimulated and produce too many hormones, which is called hyperthyroidism. Autoimmune diseases, like Grave's disease, can cause this and can make you lose wanted weight, be less tolerant of temperatures, have an increased heart rate, and experience frequent diarrhea. There are various methods of treatment for thyroid problems; some that are drastic like removing the entire gland, and others are a simple supplementation for a while. Not all problems need to be treated and some resolve themselves. One method for controlling your thyroid levels is to control what you eat and when you eat it. If you are taking medication it is important you time eating certain foods correctly with when you take your medication. Also, some foods interact poorly with your body and thyroid while others do sometimes when eaten in certain ways or in certain quantities. There are also foods that do wonders for the equilibrium of your thyroid.

pretty good

This book is highly recommended for anyone who wants to have more confidence and control over their weight loss. This book is also very useful for people seeking insight about the relationship between food and its health effects on the human body.

Very good description

The Thyroid Functions and Disorders section contains the most medical jargon and is the hardest to get through, but essential for understanding the following section, the Weight-Loss Plan. The 30 days are broken down, easy to understand, and gives a sense of direction for someone who might seem lost with weight loss.

The recipes listed in the plan are hyperlinked to the actual recipes in the following section, making it very convenient for the reader to get a sense of the level of difficulty of each day's suggested diet.

It was worth listen

Extensive meal plans and recipes are provided that are especially directed toward regulating metabolism and maintaining good thyroid health, which will also be of general interest to readers seeking a healthful lifestyle. The presentation is well-organized and readable. I unreservedly recommend this book.

right healthy

I now understand that having a thyroid issues can cause weight gain without the proper eating plan, and can make you depressed, anxious, and decrease your energy levels. Read this book and change your health or somebody else's!

This is an amazing little audiobook

Beginning with simple definitions and a quiz to help identify possible thyroid problems, this book walked me (a total novice) through the science behind my thyroid, suggested meal plans and even recipes designed to maximize my thyroid health. With so much information to convey, the audible format helps to break it into manageable sections and the recipes are easy and doable

Perfect for Beginners

The formulas for calorie intake and burning were confusing. I think it boiled down to eating the right kinds of food, takes care of eating the right amount. Overall, good info, great non-suffering weight loss plan, but could have been presented much simpler.

Fantastic and amazing

There is a great deal of information in this book to clarify your understanding of the thyroid, insulin and their functions that have long been a bit of a mystery to me. It is all explained clearly and thoroughly - a relief to finally understand in these times of `thyroid ailment' fads. The diet plan itself looks delicious and wide-ranging.
