Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The epic conclusion to the bestselling Empire of Salt series from master storyteller Conn Iggulden.

The news from the north is grim.

An army is massing under the new king of Feal. They head towards Darien - city of the Twelve families -
demanding allegiance, or war.

Tellius, Speaker to the Council, knows this divided city will never stand against such a terrible foe.
But Tellius has a plan.

He will assemble a band of heroes. Men and women who once before aided Darien in her time of need.
They will come if he calls.

The army approaches.
The trumpets of war sound.
A great city holds its breath.

And a desperate plan unfolds . . .

Absolutely brilliant

I had this on Audible and was walking around entranced by the plot. Unfortunately I binge-listened so it was over far too soon. Highly recommended

Different....but in a great way!

The third and final book in the Empire of Salt trilogy. I have found this trilogy to be very different from anything else I have read/listened to (in a good way). Its original, gripping and on occasions both endearing and funny. The world that Conn Iggulden has created is similar to the approach in game of thrones in that there are many things that we will recognise as being the same as the real world that we occupy, but it has this continual menacing back glow of unimaginable and creative 'magic', it is perhaps that which make this trilogy so different and special. I very much enjoyed Conn Iggulden's historical fiction books and I have struggled to get into his other genre efforts but this Empire of Salt series is explosive, immersive and I couldn't put it down!

Enjoyed the twists and turns

Liked the rapid flow of the book. Slightly disappointed with the pace of the finish. Left wanting more

Conn Iggulden is great

I love this guy, he gave me an intense love of history and this series of books is an amazing work of fiction that is written in the same style as his historical fiction but with bits of magic thrown in. Love it. Cheers Conn!!

Great Story

Another great book in the series, well thought out and well read. It leaves itself open for hopefully more books to follow.

Good

The ending was a little rushed, but overall I enjoyed this. I would like the story of some of the characters to be continued.

Brilliant story with excellent narration.

i found these books whilst looking for titles read by my favourite narrator and was intrigued by the summary of the story. The exciting plot, the blend of unusual chracters and the magical elements all combine for a highly entertaining listen. There is also a very catchy tune at the end of each book which gives a very professional finish to the production and made me think a dramatisation would be really popular. Daniel Weyman's performance of this trilogy is, as always, outstanding.
