Summary

An extraordinary analysis into the mind of a notorious killer which set the standard in true crime writing.

An unspeakable crime.

When he was arrested in July 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer had a severed head in the refrigerator, two more in the freezer, two skulls and a skeleton in a filing cabinet.

A deprived act.

But if anything could be more disturbing than the brute horror of this scene, it was the evidence that Dahmer had been using these human remains not only for sexual gratification but as part of a dark ritual of his own devising - to furnish a shrine to himself.

A killer beyond our understanding.

The Shrine of Jeffrey Dahmer offers a chilling insight into the mind of a serial killer and reveals the horrors within.

Perfect for fans of Making a Murderer, Mindhunter and The Ted Bundy Tapes, this is a gripping and gruesome listen that delves into the mind of a murder and what possesses someone to kill.

very good but something missing

I loved the book overall. Just wish it continued after the trial instead of ending right there. No mention of the prison stay or his murder.

Dark disturbing fascinating !!

This book is not for the faint hearted the case of JD is well documented but few books seek to understand the make up of JD and dwell to much on sensation. Masters tries to uncover the decent into madness but also the pitiful struggle he had to try fit in and try to be accepted to eventually disengaging totally. The narration is excellent and the change in narration to reflect JD’s dialogue is very impressive.

This book will give you a very unique view of the crimes the court case JD the man the experiences that shaped him and also the missed opportunity to stop his progression to killing.

An excellent book.

This has the perfect balance of both graphic detail and investigation & speculation around the related psychology. Perfect for those with a morbid yet scientific fascination.
Well read & very well written.

Well explanatory of the mental health.

Extremely fascinating book. Not for the faint hearted though. The book is well read and deeply explanatory. I almost wish it didn’t end.

Brilliant

I loved this book about Jeffrey Dahmer, although the 4 stars were giving as the story stopped at the trial and didn't go into his life and death in prison.

Some dated views but indepth analysis.

An interesting and comprehensive look at Dahmer, his crimes and his trial. The author draws a distinction between 'evil' and guilty whilst discussing the issues related to his trial.

Very good but quite technical

Gripping and grizzly. Great narration. Some of the technical psychological and legal analysis is a bit heavy going at times and needs a few listens to follow.

Very good...

A very good listen I recommend it for what that's worth. Not too long as to get bogged down but not too short as to miss stuff out. 8/10
