Not bad

I was quite hooked to this and I do bore easy! I wanted to hear the whole story - but the narration wasn’t right which did ruin it. I didn’t quite believe the female lead as it was read and think it would have been a better read than listen. But I enjoyed the story - if somewhat predictable it was an easy listen and still kept me guessing about some bits. Easy summer read - but forgettable.

Uneventful

Quite liked this book although it was uneventful and a little boring. Easy enough to listen too

Almost But Not Quite!

It was an enjoyable book but the writing could have been better in terms of conversation and content. Also the main female narrator sounded too much like she was just reading the words off the page for the first time rather than bringing them alive..

Narration wrong

Felt like the narration was very childlike, it did not match the story, I couldn't take it seriously, odd choice, quite liked the book. The most awful grating Scottish accent. Shame.

Excellent!

I loved this. It’s well written, with richly drawn characters and a compelling story. The narration is excellent!

Good story but annoying narration

A couple of the narrators were fab but unfortunately the main one was very poor. Accents were awful and all the characters sounded the same.
I enjoyed the story and would definitely recommend the book!

It’s was ok

I really thought I was going to love this book I kept thinking it would be a Lisa Jewell, k l slater, Anna-Lou weatherly style but unfortunately not. It was just ok to me, very slow burner, you kind of know the whole plot from the beginning but it’s like it takes an age to give any excitement from it. There’s no oumpft moments, no big omg or twists that get you. Sorry but it was kind of boring, took me 3 days to get through it

Good page Turner

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Kept me listening constantly, told from killer’s, wife’s and victims’ point of view, was absorbing with a twist towards the end.

Excellent story, but narrator's voice grated

I thought this was a very well-written story and the ending came as a surprise. What spoiled it for me was Beth's ghastly estuary accent, which grated on me from the start. 'Hawp' instead of help, 'himsawf' instead of himself, etc, etc. I look forward to reading more by this author, hopefully with a different narrator ...
