Summary
Self-care is the future of preventative medicine - daily nourishment that gives us a fighting chance to minimise illness, fatigue, depression and anxiety. Central to the concept of self-care is the idea that taking care of yourself is not selfish and offers essential ways to stress-proof your body and mind, bringing us back from the brink of energetic bankruptcy.
Based on the latest scientific research into the mind-body connection, psychologist, yoga teacher and personal trainer Suzy Reading has developed a 'vitality wheel' that offers a complete head, heart and body self-care toolkit that listeners can select from according to their needs.
Included are eight evidence-based ways to boost your happiness, energy, resilience and resourcefulness. Each section includes power poses from yoga that enhance and build on the practical advice.

This book really breaks down what self care is
This book really breaks down what self care is- making it small acts to nurish and nurture ourselves rather then adding extra ideals on like joining the gym.
Reading does this by reframing daily tasks we all do in seeing the value in them for ourselves.
I like that the book provides the space for the reader to think about what is important to them as an individual in relation to their personal wellbeing, building on the strengths the reader already has by exploring values and purpose.
Reading shares her own experience of burn out to support our understanding. She speaks to the reader in that our experiences and circumstances are all not the same and meets us where we are at.

Great informative book but better to read
Suzy Reading provides a self care framework with tips and ideas to make it work for you. It is quite unique because she gives definitive tips to actually implement rather than philosophies to live by.
Giving you tools to create your self-care tool kit using practical advice and yoga to nourish your mind and body - Reading's workbook helps you to take real action. Unfortunately this does not translate as an audiobook, because the print edition includes worksheets and images to follow. So it might be worth listening and reading this book together.

great tips for bringing yourself back to centre
some useful tips, good questions to ponder.
narration was ok. sometimes she was a little slow for me. voice could have been more natural.
the bits of yoga in between i didnt like. as an audiobook that didnt work. it should just be at the end of the book.

Enjoyable and beneficial
I didn't find anything completely new but it was an interesting story and I have a few clients I can recommend it to who will find it very beneficial.
I did find the graphic of the vitality wheel very helpful as a visual guide to overall wellness.
