fascinating
I really enjoyed this book . its very different to what I'd normally read but I'm so glad I took a chance. it's well written and well read. yes you need to listen and hear what's being said . it's not a light read but worth it .

An enjoyable, page turner.
I enjoyed the story as I am a fan of Vincent Van Gogh but also because of the way the author neatly brought the parallel tales together.It held my interest throughout.

Celebrating the achievement of an amazing woman
I have a lot of feelings about this book so be warned! I didn’t know about Jo Bonger prior to reading and thought her husband Theo Van Gogh was responsible for making his brother famous. Bloody patriarchy! The poor woman went through several kinds of hell in her life ( having her husband financially supporting his rather selfish and self obsessed brother when they were newly married being just one) so bravo to the author for telling her story. As for the book, I could have lived without the modern chapters but they aren’t awful in themselves. I’m just not a big reader of romance and it’s in these chapters where the background of the author stands out. Overall it’s very enjoyable.

Interesting narrative educating listeners to the story of a struggling artist.
I found this story compelling and listened to it twice.
I enjoyed the complexity of the past and present storytelling.
It informed me of the struggles of developing artistic achievements.
Art is light and darkness as Vincent struggles suggested.excellent!

Interesting story, beach read
I always like the 2 stories intertwined style. Liked the historical element. Narration not good for historical characters, abit distracting. Fine for american one. A bit kind of predictable but still enjoyable
