About this listen

How do you tame a savage?

Sabrina Gallo is an animal.

From the moment I laid eyes on her, I had to have her.

But Sabrina won’t be taken by anyone. She’s wild and reckless—downright dangerous.

Lucky for me, I’ve always loved a challenge…I want to hunt.

Even if I capture her, caging a tiger doesn’t mean it’s tamed.

The harder she fights, the more ruthless I become.

She needs to learn how savage I can be.

The Lark Notes:

You asked for it, you got it! I've never received more requests for a book. This is for all my rowdy Love Larks, because you deserve it. Sabrina Gallo and Adrik Petrov are fire and fire. Their relationship is an inferno that could burn the world down.

—Sophie

The Savage is a stand-alone story in the Kingmakers universe. It’s a dark mafia romance, lovers to enemies to lovers again. Listener, prepare yourself: The steam is off the charts, including FF and FFM scenes.

My Thoughts on The Savage

I wanted this story. And I’m glad that we the readers/listeners got this story. I still kind of loved The Spy more though. And maybe a small part of me still kind of felt like that was a good ending for this branch of the series even if I still really liked this story as well.
Sabrina was chaotic and impetuous and sometimes I couldn’t help feeling throughout the story that some of her issues were very much the product of her own making and maybe a little bit of youth. But there were also plenty of moments where I felt like the issues were just as much the product of Adrik’s lack of honesty and/or failure to communicate. But overall, this story was full of passion and adventure and thrill, and I absolutely enjoyed it. It was the kind of story that once you get started, you definitely get hooked and the hours of listening fly by. Both narrators did an amazing job, and I enjoyed, listening no matter which one was telling the story. I would not only enjoy listening to either voice on another title, but can’t wait to pick up another story by this author.

An Explosively Wild Ride! Great Story & Listen🎧

Sophie Lark continues to wow me with another amazing “Kingmakers” novel, and it is the perfect cure for the book hangover she left me with after finishing “The Spy”, which wrapped up the series in the best of ways. Thank goodness she was not completely done with that world just yet, a world she masterfully built and one I hope she comes back to one day in the future. As a secondary character, Sabrina Gallo was an immense presence in “The Spy”, she exuded strength, boldness and was a force to be reckoned with. She also left an impression on Adrik Petrov, a former Kingmaker and record holder, who saw something in her and wanted her. The chemistry between these two is explosive and the two make a great team, but she is slated to go back to Kingmakers for her second year and he has two months to convince her otherwise. Her father wants her to finish school before pursuing anything else, including Adrik, who wants her to go to Russia with him and be a part of his newly formed Bratva. A last-minute decision has her going to Russia and Arik, along with his wolves, to start a new empire and business venture. Sabrina is learning a whole new world there and a language too, she faces some challenges but it turns out her biggest one is Adrik himself. I loved how everything played out in this book, also loved how Sabrina’s father comes in with something that could make things right with the Russians, bringing a “Brutal Birthright” storyline full circle. This dark mafia, lovers to enemies to lovers again, romance is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, action, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and some steamy romance. Sophie Lark, thank you for another great story and the wild and amazing ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Jennifer Blom and Bryant Walker are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They have a complete understanding of the characters they portray, give each a voice that suits that character’s persona, sounding believable and just as I pictured them to sound. Walker kills it as Adrik, from his accent to his powerhouse of an alpha-tude. Blom does the same for Sabrina, grasps her passion, her strength, her smarts and her take no prisoners’ attitude perfectly. They set the perfect tone for the story, capture all the characters’ emotions and project them into their performance and have you feel every single one. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this amazing listen.

Explosive

That’s all I can say about Adrik & Sabrina . They are both headstrong and don’t back down from each other so their relationship isn’t all hearts and roses it’s blood , sweat and tears and it was so right for these two.

A Drama-Filled Wild Ride

The Savage is Sabrina and Adrik's story and it is full of fire, passion, love, and drama, drama, and more drama. Adrik wants Sabrina and will stop at nothing to have her. Their relationship was definitely one of insta-lust and their chemistry is off the charts smoking, but the flip side of all the chemistry and passion is when things turn heated in not so good ways, things go bad quickly. Both Adrik and Sabrina are independent and stubborn and strong-willed. There was a lot about their personalities that worked well together, but a lot that caused them to butt heads at times and for things in their relationship to explode, and not in a good way.

Adrik convinces Sabrina to join him in Russia instead of returning to Kingmakers, and she agrees, with the belief that they will be partners in all things moving forward. Unfortunately, when push comes to shove, Adrik continues to make choices he feels like are best independent of Sabrina's input, causing huge rifts in their relationship, and in turn Sabrina retaliates, setting into motion a drastic chain of events.

There were parts of this book I enjoyed and others not so much. It wasn't my favorite of the series. I think overall Sabrina and Adrik were good together and obviously loved each other, but they really had poor communication skills and were kind of immature, and their stubborness was a bit much for me. Their behavior towards each other at times was a giant red flag of exactly how not to act in a loving healthy relationship. I struggled at time to connect with or like both characters. I also really enjoyed the whole series because of Kingmakers and this book was different as it had nothing to do with Kingmakers. It was still interesting and intriguing but different.

The audiobook was fantastic. The narration by Jennifer Blom and Bryant Walkerwas wonderful and it made the experience come to life. I do think the story was perhaps a little lengthier than necessary, but I do think listening to the great narration helped enhance the experience. I would definitely recommend these narrators and look forward to listening to more of their work in the future. #PinkFlamingoProductions #TheFlock

Fantastic romantic suspense!

Just when I thought Sophie Lark was finished with the Kingmakers series, she gives us one more! While not taking place at Kingmakers, it brings out Sabrina Gallo, the vibrant, woman who is who she is, like it or not and the one who wants her, Adrik Petrov. He is older than Sabrina, but seeing her on campus, he knows she is exactly the kind of woman he wants. And he will do whatever it takes to win her over. Sabrina is extremely independent and stubborn, and this is no easy feat. After getting her to come to Russia and leave Kingmakers, now the two are working together. Or are they? Just when you think these two are perfect together, Sophie Lark throws a few wrenches into the story. Adrik is an interesting character, very controlling, and I love how he is having difficulty controlling Sabrina. Sabrina is a strong personality, knowing she has the ability and won't stop thriving. And lastly, I love how Lark brings in characters from previous books in her stories, and Sophie's dad comes straight from the beginning. What a great plot and fast paced, action filled romance! Love this!

Jennifer Blom and Bryant Walker are our storytellers for this one, and what a story they tell. Blom is the feisty, stubborn Sabrina. She is spot on with each emotion, keeping her spunk and confidence in the forefront. Walker becomes Adrik. He is a little dark, very controlling, extremely alpha and Walker could not have been more on point. I loved these two together, they are perfectly cast.

Love this series

I love this series and Sabrina Gallo is a boss but that should not be surprising considering her parents. Adrian Pertrov is a boss as well and these two combined is absolute fire together. I loved their relationship in this book the things they went though to be together in the end. Like I said this series about Kingmakers was amazing one of the best series ever about the second generation of kids from previous books.

4.5 Stars

Book 5 of the Kingmakers series by Sophie Lark kicks off with Sabrina Gallo making good on her plans to spend some time with Adric Petrov after her semester ends before returning home to Chicago. Adric and Sabrina met during the rescue of Aries aka Rafe's father in the last book when she tagged along to help her roommate Nix who had been taken, hostage while they breached her fathers' mines.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the Brutal Birthright series (the parents of this series) and it was great to catch up with the baby generation, I think I've enjoyed Dean's story most of all but for some reason, Sabrina and her escapades in Moscow just didn't hit the mark for me, she's a wildcat and definitely one of those adrenaline junkie types, but I just couldn't warm to her. Adric on the other hand, I really loved his POV.

Narration was fantastic and I will definitely be checking out the Novellas of fellow Kingmakers students but Sabrina (as much as everyone insists she is intelligent and beautiful and amazing *gag* just made too many reckless stupid choices for me to like her) a one time listen for me.

Fantastic addition to the series, standalone is ok

This is the fifth book in the Kingmakers series and can be read as a standalone, we get an enemies-to-lovers romance, full of suspense. The characters are amazing, Adrik and Sabrina's story will have you intrigued, I personally loved Sabrina, she is a fantastic heroine, full of confidence. The audiobook is narrated by Jennifer Blom and Bryant Walker, and it was so good, I loved this couple and how they performed the audio, they certainly gave it a boost to the story.
