Summary

Four months after the explosion at the Garden, a place where young women known as the Butterflies were kept captive, FBI agents Brandon Eddison, Victor Hanoverian, and Mercedes Ramirez are still entrenched in the aftermath, helping survivors in the process of adjusting to life on the outside. With winter coming to an end, the Butterflies have longer, warmer days of healing ahead. But for the agents, the impending thaw means one gruesome thing: a chilling guarantee that somewhere in the country, another young woman will turn up dead in a church with her throat slit and her body surrounded by flowers.

Priya Sravasti's sister fell victim to the killer years ago. Now she and her mother move every few months, hoping for a new beginning. But when she ends up in the madman's crosshairs, the hunt takes on new urgency. Only with Priya's help can the killer be found - but will her desperate hope for closure compel her to put her very life on the line?

Loved it

Loved this book. I especially liked the way the story from the first book carried over, with the trials of the 'butterflies after they escaped the 'garden'. Then the 2 stories almost combined with the FBI agents and the other characters becoming involved in each others lives.

Bingeworthy

I discovered this series 2 days ago. About to listen to the third one.

I enjoy the way these are written differently to your standard thriller. With the victims at the forefront. But not in the way you expect

Enjoyed the narrator. Chuckled to me self because her voice for the bad guy sounds like Jimmy Fallons impression of Trump

Not quite as compelling at the first book

I liked that some of the characters were slightly familiar from the Butterfly Garden but I didn't feel this had quite the same grip on me.

I wanted to hear more from the Butterflies as it felt like they had very minor pointless parts in this book. Priya was a good character but I didn't feel engaged enough with her story.

It was good but I had higher expectations I guess, as I was so gripped by the first book

Loved it

Was a bit worried having read other reviews saying it wasn’t as good as butterfly garden. I think those reviewers weren’t enjoying the same book I was.
Loved it, and the development of previously met characters.
Yes I worked out who the killer was, but as it took a while to learn how the killer fitted I wasn’t disappointed.
Can’t wait for further books by this author.

Agonisingly drawn out

This for me was a total let down compared to the previous book, it was agonisingly drawn out even though the plot was established early on. I got to the point where i was only playing it to fall asleep to it was getting so boring. The only good bits which were few and far between were the glimpses into the other butterflies lives now they were free from the garden. I wouldn't bother to waste a credit on this as its no where near as good as the first book which is a shame because that was a great listen.
