About this listen

The instant Sunday Times best seller from the author of The Flatshare

Addie and her sister are about to embark on an epic road trip to a friend's wedding in rural Scotland. The playlist is all planned and the snacks are packed.

But, not long after setting off, a car slams into the back of theirs. The driver is none other than Addie's ex, Dylan, who she's avoided since their traumatic break-up two years earlier.

Dylan and his best mate are heading to the wedding too and they've totalled their car so Addie has no choice but to offer them a ride. The car is soon jam-packed full of luggage and secrets, and with four-hundred miles ahead of them, Dylan and Addie can't avoid confronting the very messy history of their relationship....

Will they make it to the wedding on time? And, more importantly, is this really the end of the road for Addie and Dylan?

So good I will listen to it again.

Another smash hit by Beth O’Leary! I laughed out loud so many times and was captivated by the ‘Then’ and ‘Now’ leaps every few chapters as the characters’ histories played out. The story was warming, hilarious, cringeworthy in the best ways and an altogether enjoyable listen. I loved the performances - most especially by Eleanor Tomlinson (definitely going to look out for her narration again).

Good book, shame about the female narrator.

I enjoyed the book itself, but it takes a bit of getting use to. The female narrator isn't great, she just rambles and doesn't punctuate and its quite off putting. If you can get past that then it's okay! I slowed it down a little bit to try and help, it didn't make much of a difference. I loved the flatshare, didn't really like the switch, this one was good but not quite as good as the flatshare.

Easy listening

I enjoyed this. There were quite a few funny bits which made me chuckle out loud, especially when they were stuck in the traffic jam on the motorway. I wasn’t too keen on Dylan’s character, I thought he was a bit of a wet lettuce, but his flaws were redeemed a bit towards the end. The narration was good. My only criticism is that the person narrating Addie spoke at a faster pace than Dylan’s narrator which became a bit annoying. Otherwise a good listen.

Every bit as good as the Flat Share

The narration adds to the brilliance of the story and the characters! Loved every minute of it. Beth writes such relatable characters from all backgrounds. She has a gift to make you smile.

Brilliant! Loved this!

Laugh out loud funny in places and high energy in others, so you're desperate to know what will happen next.
Absolutely, thoroughly enjoyed it! Have previously listened to The Flatshare and The Switch, and loved both of them, so I was eagerly awaiting this book, and it totally did not disappoint!

Bland

Slow and predictable, not as good as her other books. Too much of a run up and a shortened ending, was very disappointed.

Well written but lacks the spark of previous books

I really enjoyed her other books but found this boring sadly. I didn’t feel invested in the characters and gave up after three hours of listening. Disappointed !
