THE SECOND NOVEL IN THE COUSINS' WAR SERIES FROM SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR, PHILIPPA GREGORY

Child-bride of Edmund Tudor, although widowed in her early teens, is determined to infiltrate the house of York under the guise of loyal friend and servant. It's the only way to ultimately ensure that her only son, Henry Tudor, triumphs as King of England.

Through collaboration with the dowager, Queen Elizabeth Woodville, Margaret agrees a betrothal between Henry and Elizabeth's daughter, thereby uniting the families and resolving the Cousins War once and for all by founding of the Tudor dynasty.

Oh she’s horrible!

I’m not one for normally writing reviews, but had to on this one.

I hate hate hate the main character, but my goodness the story was gripping!

Fantastic Glimpse into History

This is an amazing glimpse into the life of a woman that history hasn't really highlighted. Margaret may be hard to like but the world she lives in and the events she witnesses and participates in more than make up for it

Excellent

Absolutely loved this book. The narration by Emily Watson was spot on. Must re-read Philippa Gregory 's White Queen and White Princess and the other books in the Cousin's War series.

As always, they do not disappoint

This is another great book by Philippa Gregory. You learn history with that spice of entertainment and "can't put it down". The narrators are also an important part of this quality entertainment. Highly recommended.

horrible old witch!

The author has done a great job of tell the story of such a horrible narcissistic, hypocritical woman. I can only imagine it was done as a personal challenge. I've honestly never read a book with such a deliberately unlikeable protagonist.
Very well done!

Excellent!

This is my first audiobook and I loved it.
Read at a good pace with Tudor music introducing each chapter. I have read Philippa Gregory before and this was just as I had hoped.

Unexpected pleasure

I didn't expect to be as impressed by this as I have been. Wonderful story.

A wicked woman wins!

Unusually the "heroine" of the story is obnoxious: self-righteous, full of pride and scheming, all the time believing that God is on her side and that she has been chosen for great things. But it's a crackingly good story even when one knows how it will finally end. I thought the book got better and better as the pace of history quickened. I don't know how accurate some of the details are regarding Richard Third's culpability over the presumed murders of the Prices in the Tower. I don't think anybody is sure, but this book gives a plausible alternative to Shakepeare's version the latter coloured by a Tudor queen being on the throne.
The female reader does a great job of dramatizing the narrative by her ability to create different voices for the characters.

Loved this book, couldn’t help but laugh and feel awfully sorry for Margaret . Feel for her, yet hate her! Really good!!

Battle scenes a bit long in bits- found I switched off! But really enjoying this series of Phillipa Gregory x
