Very good story but awful narration
The story was very good, but the narrator ruined it imho, i was having to rewind as her voice was very distracting. I couldn't get into the story in the beginning at all. It took very long for me to do so. I continued it because I knew the story would be good, especially one about the Jacobite rising and because i love all of Eliza Knight's stories. The narrator's voice for Jenny was good especially her Scottish accent. But the male voices were awful, especially Torans, he sounded as though he was in pain most of the time and like he was going to start crying like a real weakling with such a shaky voice, especially in the love scenes, it was awful. I couldn't bear it. Even when he said something funny he sounded depressed. Pity It wasn't Anthony Ferguson, Eliza Knight's usual narrator or another one like Tim Campbell, Marian Hussey, Derek Perkins, Liam Gerrard or Alex Wyndham All really really good narrators. I don't know if I will listen to the rest of the series if Justine Eyre is the narrator again. i really hope it won't be. Normally I listen to practically all of the books in my library again, if the narrators are ok or good, but this will probably be one that I won't be listening to again because of the narrator. Pity as the story was really good.
