Summary
Levi Black has mostly recovered from the events of a year ago. The only lingering effects are that he’s much more well-known in York than he’d like to be, and he’s a lot more cautious about walking around his house naked.
However, those events brought him the capricious and fascinating Blue, so he’s not complaining. On the contrary, he’s happy, in love, and looking forward to Blue finally moving in with him. And if sometimes he wonders what Blue sees in a boring cartoonist, he keeps that to himself.
Blue Billings is finally ready to throw off the memories of his past and move in with the person who means the most in the world to him. His psychic abilities have grown in the last year to his mentor Tom's consternation, but Blue is determined to look on the bright side. He’s also focused on ignoring all the warning signs that he’s received lately.
However, even deeply buried secrets have a way of rising to the surface. And when a surprise from Blue’s past turns up and draws them away to a lonely house on the Yorkshire moors, Levi and Blue must fight for their survival once again.
From best-selling author Lily Morton comes the second book in the Black & Blue series. The books are intended to be listened to in order.

Levi and Blue are back!
Blue, Blue, Blue. Dearest Blue. You think you’ve got your stuff together. You’re moving in with Levi (finally!), your psychic abilities are growing, and you’re doing well with Tom at the bookstore. Life’s pretty fricking amazing, right? Well, until your past shows up at your doorstep with an offer you can’t refuse.
Levi, Levi, Levi. Dearest Levi. That cartoon career is going well, right? And your darling Blue is moving in, the ghost Rosalind is (mostly) behaving, and things are moving forward. Life’s pretty fricking amazing, right? Except you knew it couldn’t last. You didn’t know how, but you knew – deep in your heart – that the other shoe was going to drop. You just didn’t see it being someone from Blue’s past.
The offer? Spend a few nights in a mansion on the Yorkshire moor. There’s money involved, but there’s also prestige. You can say you defeated the ghosts. There’s also redemption. Blue can finally confront his past and move forward once and for all. Sounds simple, right?
Well, sure. If you ignore all the horrible ghosts. Each has a story more depressing. Endured horrific circumstances in life, suffered ignominious deaths, and are tormented in the spirit world. They want revenge, and they’ll do just about anything to get it. Levi and Blue are standing in the way of that vengeance.
There is a lot going on in this book but, as I’ve come to expect from Lily Morton, plenty of humor as well. For instance, I wouldn’t have had sex in that mansion for all the money in the world. Seems our two heroes didn’t feel that way. I mean, aren’t all those ghosts watching? I guess if you’re a voyeur it’s not so bad. Oh yea, Levi’s already been caught with his trousers down, so to speak.
There is also a lot of violence in this book. Both in current day as well as in the past. I was disturbed by some of the horrors committed in that house. But I have to say, this book entertained from the first word to the final sentence. A great and well-deserved ending.
Finally, there’s Joel Leslie. His talent matches that of Ms. Morton, and they work perfectly together. Also, his voices just work and his delivery is spot-on for this mystery with humor paranormal story. Can’t wait to see what’s coming next.

A Thrilling Supernatural Adventure
The Quiet House is the second book in the Black and Blue series, a paranormal series that follows psychic Blue and his devoted cartoonist boyfriend, Levi. The series is best read in order, although this book could be read as a standalone. However, I don’t recommend that.
I LOVE this book. The plot is exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat with its action and suspense. Blue and Levi are two of my favorite characters. I love how solid their relationship is and the love they have for each other is so strong and pure. The book is full of humor with witty banter and well crafted, intriguing characters.
The audiobook was narrated by Joel Leslie who does a fantastic job. Joel has a wonderful voice that is a pleasure to listen to. He really brings the book to life, and I love how he voiced each character.

Just.... Wow!
I confess to being a fan of Lily Morton to start with. She is an an 'insta-click' author for me because I know what I am going to get, fantastic MC's, strong supporting cast and brilliant story telling.
But on this occasion she has take the story telling to a whole other level. I listened to this book in a single sitting (well not quite sitting, there was a fair amount of dog walking, hoovering and washing up done too 😉) I was totally invested in the story from the start - and there is alot going on in this book.
One thing I really enjoyed about 'The Quiet House' was the fact that the story wasn't totally focused on the relationship between Levi and Blue(in fact in my opinion, this is a pretty low angst listen) what I got was a rollicking good, suspenseful ghost story. There were some pretty scary bits, but with the awesome Morton brand of snark that we have grown to love 😊
The narration was devastatingly good from Joel Leslie. This story required a range of accents which were all on point.
Joel uses the fantastic story telling quality of his voice to really bring the story to life.
I felt a connection to the characters immediately.
This is a first class listen, proving again that the team of Lily Morton and Joel Leslie is unbeatable. Definitely worth your time and money/credit 😊
Bring on book 3 please!!! xx

It is Awesome
Narrator Joel Leslie delivered a dark and spooky performance. Listeners who are fans of his narrations will not be disappointed, but be pleasantly surprised by this second book of the Black and Blue series. Although a bit predictable, it, still took me on a wonderful adventure. It was packed with intimate feelings of vulnerability between Blue and Levi, making the protagonists very relatable and in turn lovable.
The author has the amazing ability to build broken worlds and fill them with damaged secondary characters. I loved the humor mixed with the uncertain undertones of darkness. The dark mysterious and oppressive feelings of anticipation hang heavy in the air, it loomed in the background.
I do recommend this audiobook
Happy Listening

Amazing
I adore both author and narrator here and Blue and Levi are one of my favorite of Ms. Morton’s couples. This story intriguingly builds on Book 1 Blue Billings and we see a whole different side to Blue and Levi as Blue’s psychic abilities continue to grow and increase in power. I don’t like horror, scary stuff, no way not me. However, this ghost love story is unputdownable despite the scary parts, especially because Ms. Morton knows how to balance things out with humor.
Joel Leslie is an amazingly talented narrator and I enjoy his vocal performances across the board. But there’s something undefinably different and special about the way he narrates Ms. Morton’s books. It’s hard to improve on Ms. Morton’s writing but Mr. Leslie manages to take it to the next level, completely immersing us in an altogether unusual experience.

Epically good.
This book was epically good. Morton is affectionately known as the queen of snark and while she still holds the title with this book, we also continue to see another side of her that just truly showcases what a phenomenal author she is. I mean, I was able to go from cracking up one minute, to literally biting my nails the next, and back so quickly it should’ve given me whiplash but it just worked so dang well. Levi and Blue are one of the greatest couples ever, their love shines through even when they are individually feeling insecure, and they are just so strong together. This book was even creepier than the first, with lots of anxiety inducing scary movie esque moments, and I loved every minute of it. Humor, scares, love, the best grumpy mentor ever, this book truly has it all and I dearly hope it isn’t the last in the series. (Also desperately need Will and Jem to get a story!)
As for the narration, Joel Leslie is actually not usually one of my favorite narrators but I think he does this series so well!

Awesome book
I always love a good ghost story and this one hit the perfect balance of developing the main couple's romance from book one while telling a scary ghost story. Loved the characters, the haunting, the strong found family theme, the way the history of the house tied into the story and the spooky paranormal aspects were great. wonderful narration, highly recommend for anyone who loves romance and ghost stories.

Excellent as ever!
The Lily Morton / Joel Lesley combination are excellent as usual. I wouldn’t recommend listening to it on your own at night but that my just be me! The Blue Billings books have made me want to believe in ghosts, please can I borrow Rosalind.
