Great story, but the fights Get a bit long and boring

The story is excellent, but there are too many monster fights with to much monologuing and the author isn’t able to keep my attention. The problem with these kind of books is that when the main character fights monsters, the fights become one dimensional. The book is excellent when the character interacts with other people, but god damn is it boring whenever he is alone without any companions. He gets one, but it doesn’t speak.
Worth the money, but I really hope the problems with the max being alone all the time gets fixed or I won’t be getting the next one

Glad I gave it a go

I definitely had some doubts getting into this series but I'm glad I did.
The first book went along pretty much as expected, but what makes this series stand out is the pacing.
You definitely feel like you're watching the protagonist grow with each book, but not unrealistically so.
There are no major time skips where the protagonist grows from E rank to C or anything like that, but you can see how they grow, what they have to do etc
In this last book you can definitely see the growth of the author as well, the writing flows a lot better and is more of an enjoyable listen.
Looking forward to seeing where the author takes us next.

Great book epic narrator

I really enjoyed this audiobook the world is interesting, full of depth. I really like Jake and the fact he does things on his own without the need for a team. Solo litrpg are a rare treat.

There are some nice moments to counter the odd brutal incident, everything is nicely balanced. I liked that we got less of the personal angst and that Jake feels more at ease with the world. I am not a fan of birds usually but the hawks were a nice addition.

I enjoyed the alchemy aspect of the story. The odd bits of humour were well done.

The narrator did a wonderful job, beast sounds can't be easy but I thought they were well done. He deserves thanks for all his hard work.

A most enjoyable listen and I look forward to the next book. I hope the series won't end too quickly. If you liked the previous books you will like this one.

Good but lack of plot progression

I love this series but this book has been the slowest so far. To me it feels like an in between book, something to get you from book two to book four. Book two also felt slower than book one to me so I'm hoping the next one will ramp things up a bit. As much as I enjoy the system and power progression, it doesn't do much for me without a real plot to drive things forward. The book is still enjoyable and worth listening to but I would have personally chosen to wait for the next book to come out and listen to them back to back since this one on its own just isn't doing very much.
