Fast paced
Grisham never fails to deliver and I was gripped throughout this tortuous tale. We follow the ruse and fall of our lawyer whose defence of the indefensible creates backlash in his personal life. So many turns in this take. A few times I felt it was about to conclude and it whipped off on another track with a different strand to the story. Very satisfying and excellent narration throughout.

Unexpected twist in the middle.
I enjoyed this story and it had an element in the middle which completely threw me as I was not expecting it. It almost meant that there was two books in one.
I can’t really give any negative comments and I did want to know what happened in the end, but it was not as exciting as I thought it could be or as other books are.
Do I regret listening to it - absolutely not. Would I recommend it? Probably not because there are better books out there but for a time filling listen, it hit the spot.

Very long and got a bit boring in places, wasn’t keen on the narrator, don’t think I will be getting any more .

Had to stop when the cat was swung by the tail
I was pretty bored with this JP story & narration..but stopped when the boys pulled the cat out by its tail & swung it…I can’t listen to animal abuse even fictional.

The story itself was well constructed and the characters interesting and complex . The courtroom battles appeared authentic although I’m not a lawyer.
