About this listen
Now, the no-holds-barred private eye returns, along with his gorgeous secretary, Velda, and a collection of New York City characters, in two fully dramatized "theater-of-the-mind" audio adventures: "Dangerous Days" and "Oil and Water."
Narrated by Stacy Keach, the acclaimed actor who starred in the original Mike Hammer television series, these new mysteries are written by the writers of that show and enhanced with a full supporting cast, sound effects, and music. Even the show's jazzy theme song is back to set the gritty tone for each episode.

Old school Detective humour but Mike Hammer would probably would be Cancelled if written in 2023.

A Character Out Of Time
This modern day setting for Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer. for me really works. His political incorrectness makes for an interesting angle and the two dramas feel so much like the old TV series. The main reason for this is the presence of Stacey Keach as Mike Hammer and the music. A really enjoyable adaptation and I look forward to listening to other episodes in the series.

satisfyingly noir
Wasn't sure I'd like this - I'm faithful to the originals - but the transition to modern day works surprisingly well. The occasional nod to technology detracts in no way from the feel of 30's down at heel America and provides Hammer with some sharp dialogue. Not for the purists but a treat if you like your detectives dished up with grit. Fun!

Mike Hammer Memories
Couple of entertaining short stories with Stacy Keach. Enjoyed them for a quick story. Background music just like the tv show.

From a once greatly feared and respected salmon.
A fish has but two lips granted it was irrelevant in regards to this audiobook. Very good.

Not great value
Would you listen to The New Adventures of Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer again? Why?
Probably not. It's not that gripping and too many other books to listen to
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mike
What about Stacy Keach’s performance did you like?
It's very tongue in cheek
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No. True I was listening while driving but it's not that great
Any additional comments?
Terrible value at one credit for two and a half hours

So hard-boiled, you might hurt somebody
I'd heard Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer stories were so hard-boiled as crime fiction, they were almost indistinguishable from parody. I think that's fair, I loved these, the tough detective and the dame. Reminded me of Frank Drebin. Excellent narration. Not great crime literature in the mould of Hammet or Chandler, but great fun.

Extra Cheese With Extra Ham
This honestly feels like it was supposed to be a parody, but no one bothered to tell the actors. Because especially now that it's been brought into the 21st century with references to Eminem and Starbucks, etc, the 1940's, pulp-fiction cliches and misogyny are so ridiculously cringeworthy that no one can possibly take it seriously! xD
