Summary

Love thy neighbour or fear thy neighbour?

For myself and Lauren, my 10-year-old daughter No 3 Beech Close was to be our refuge after two years of hell nursing my sick mother.

In need of a fresh start and wanting to distance ourselves from the bad memories of my mother’s house we moved to Beech Close, a small cul-de-sac of six houses situated around a picture-perfect green.

It seemed perfect but I had underestimated the secrets that this tightknit community shared.

Within hours of moving in my next-door neighbour Valerie made it abundantly clear we were not welcome.

I soon discovered that Valerie hadn’t welcomed the previous occupant either and she’d since disappeared without a trace.

Had I put myself and my daughter in danger moving to Beech Close?

Which neighbours, if any could I trust?

And how far would they go to keep their secret?

Perfect for fans of Liane Moriarty, Shari Lapena and Lisa Jewell

good story, keeps you guessing

overall I really enjoyed this book, however I found it difficult to listen as the narater has a habit of emphasising the end of every sentence. Once heard, it becomes very distracting

Awful Narration

Over dramatic narration, annoyingly she also keeps changing the daughters name between “Lauren” and “Loren”

Terrible narration

Almost gave up several times due to narration. The voices of Shelly and Josh were unbearable. Persevered because story was quite good.

I do like this author

I have listened to a lot of this authors books and I do enjoy them. Story line is always good, you’re able to start guessing who did it pretty much straight away and although I was right with one I wasn’t with the other 🙌🏼

My only downside would be I feel sometimes it does drag and I find myself drifting away from the story but I would recommend and I will continue with this author

Sadly awful narration

Pretty good story, but the narration was quite terrible and made it difficult to finish. Characters aren’t particularly likeable either.

Worst narration ever.

I’m giving up on this because of the execrable narration. It’s comical but this is meant to be a psychological thriller. No one talks like this narrator portrays. Emphasis all wrong. Love the author and enjoyed her other books narrated by others, but will not re-visit this narrator again.

The neighbour

Very gripping and amazing story. I was totally hooked although the end was a bit surreal. Reviews on the narrator are unfair. Not the best but quite acceptable!

Narration annoying story average.

The story was average, the most interesting part for me, is what happened to the dogs! Narrator is best suited to children’s story books. Internation completely wrong expression overdone and doesn’t bring the characters to life for me at all. I wouldn’t waste your credit on this book
