About this listen

A murder has been committed - but as the victim was a rapist, recently released from prison, no one is too concerned about the crime. That is, until Detective Inspector John Rebus and DS Siobhan Clarke uncover evidence that a serial killer is on the loose...

When Rebus also starts looking into the apparent suicide of an MP, he is abruptly warned off the case, not least because the G8 leaders have gathered in Scotland, and Rebus's bosses want him well out of the way.

But Rebus has never been one to stick to the rules, and when Siobhan has a very personal reason for hunting down a riot cop, it looks as though both Rebus and Clarke may be up against their own side...

Pure Rankin

A great yarn, very complex and nice and long. Expertly narrated by James Macpherson.

Great Characters

Another instalment of Oor (Our) Rebus and the other fantastic characters. The story again pushes the boundaries of fiction, however does not detract from the enjoyment. Some, small twists, which add to another good read/listen.

Always unputdownable

Ian Rankin - simply streets ahead of the ones who fail to keep it real.

Scottish/ English communication difficulties

A vivid picture of the end of one world view and the start of another, which sticks in the mind long after the first reading. Performed with humour and real understanding.

A Brilliant Listen

Great story line. Like how Siobhan is coming in to her own. Love James Macpherson's narration.

Another masterpiece!

Hooked all the way through and, as always, James McPherson's reading was exceptionally good. What will I do when finished!

Loved it

Great multi layered who/why dunnit - good unpredictable use of some the regular Rebus characters and as always brilliantly read - even the doggy English accents are less dodge - really enjoyed it
