Summary

Once upon a time, waiting for the mail was filled with warm anticipation. But the suicide of the local mailman has left the residents of this tiny Arizona town shell-shocked. Nothing this bad has ever happened here. And now, there's a new mail carrier in town, one who's delivering lethal letters stuffed with icy fear. Great story (but did skip a bit)

I'm not usually one to do so, but I did find myself skipping some of the middle section of the story. It was a lot of the same elements repeated which got a bit tedious to read. However, the beginning and conclusion to the story was great. Definitely worth a read!

Very Bentley Little

If I’d have listened to this without knowing the author, I’d have known the author.
How he manages to make psychotic characters out of mundane workers is mad!
Enjoyable - as are the others. But not necessarily outstanding.

Killer Mailman really ?!

Actually, yes another original horror story from Bentley Little. I didn't know what to expect from this novel. Have to say I couldn't put it down. Great characters, you get to love the Wilson family, looking forward together long summer break ahead. Then people start to kill themselves just after a new Mailman comes.to town. Then the horror begins,
there were times I wanted to laugh at the absurdity of a town being taken over by this pale faced red haired demon like man but honestly it was chilling at times.

Strange 🤨

I love Bentley little, I think that’s the only reason I finished this book. It was actually very good to be begin with but it became a really odd story, weak towards the middle and end. Like there was little imagination in it and it was a ‘this will do’ type of writing. I am disappointed in all honesty as all other Bentley little books I’ve listed to have been great. This was just odd, I found the storyline strange and the ending sudden and unimaginative. Very strange 😣

Not bad but…

The Mailman introduces an intriguing premise, but the execution in my opinion leaves much to be desired.

The narrator, while competent, doesn’t bring much to the table in terms of emotional depth or engagement. This isn’t necessarily a huge drawback, as it’s not something that has hampered Little’s previous works.

The story itself isn’t inherently bad, but it suffers from a slow pacing that dilutes the tension. There’s a gradual build-up that never quite hits its stride, and the core mystery around the titular Mailman lacks clarity. Who is the Mailman? What exactly is his purpose? These central questions, which should have driven the suspense, are left too vague, making the character feel more like a plot device than a fully-realized antagonist.

In terms of suspense, The Mailman struggles, the tension is spread too thin. There are a few unsettling moments, but they never escalate to the level of true “terror”or psychological dread. By the end, the sense of unease fizzles out rather than crescendos, leaving you with more confusion than satisfaction.

Ultimately, The Mailman feels underwhelming. The plot had potential, but the lack of a clear, compelling villain and the slow pace made it less convincing as a horror story. As a Little’s fan I still appreciate the book, but in my personal opinion it doesn’t rank among his best works.

Surprisingly captivating !

I don’t know what I was expecting, looking at the cover and the title and even the premise of the story I was sceptical about how much I’d enjoy the book, but oh my! The narrator is incredible and so easy to listen to, the story was at some moments terrifying and actually caused me to get a little frightened at night! Even the gory scenes were described in a way that made me feel like I was there. I’d recommend to anyone who enjoys a spooky book! Just give it a chance
