Summary
They called themselves "the lucky ones"
They were seven children either orphaned or abandoned by their parents and chosen by legendary philanthropist and brain surgeon Dr. Vincent Capello to live in The Dragon, his almost magical beach house on the Oregon Coast. Allison was the youngest of the lucky ones living an idyllic life with her newfound family...until the night she almost died and was then whisked away from the house and her adopted family forever.
Now, 13 years later, Allison receives a letter from Roland, Dr. Capello's eldest son, warning her that their father is ill and in his final days. Allison knows she must go home again and confront the ghosts of her past. She's determined to find out what really happened that fateful night - was it an accident, or, as she's always suspected, did one of her beloved family members try to kill her?
But digging into the past can reveal horrific truths, and when Allison pieces together the story of her life, she learns the terrible secret at the heart of the family she once loved but never really knew.

I'm the lucky one!
Absolutely loved reading this book so decided to try it on audible, it was just as good, the narration was perfect, it really did feel as if I was there! Love, love, love Tiffany's books. 😊

Comfort food for the brain
Narrator was interesting, sounded a but childlike making the different Male voices. Was distracting for the first half of the book then I didn't notice it so much.
The book was not what I was expecting having read some of the author's other books which drew you rightinto the story and made you heavily invested in Soren, Eleanorand Kingsley etc to the ppint that they were all addictive in their own way. That said, It was enjoyable although slow paced. I read this after a heavy political drama and enjoyed the fact that I did not become heavily invested in any of the characters. It was a leisurely and light read even with the potentially heavy topics. Some beautiful imagery and poetry made the book feel very dream like and almost pleasant.
