Summary

A rivalry erupts into passion in Regency London. Miss Gillian Harris’s trouble begins when she makes a scandalous appearance at a public masquerade ball. The trustee of her fortune, the wealthy and powerful Marquis of Landover, declares her brother, Sir Avery, an irresponsible guardian, and moves the siblings into his own fashionable London mansion.

Chafing at the Marquis’ careful monitoring of her conduct, the audacious Gillian devises an inspired plan: She will distract her watchful protector by presenting him with suitable candidates for courtship. But, despite her best efforts at matchmaking, the fires of jealousy begin to grow and Gillian fears she might succumb to a much more scandalous temptation: seducing the handsome Marquis herself...

Great read!

Loved the story and all the characters were great fun.. the story was well paced and funny… although I’ll be honest in saying the romance bit just seemed a little implausible and sudden…towards the end of story

But all in all, a great read

The narration brought everything to life… I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve listened to this narrator. I definitely will be looking out for more stuff from her.

The story keeps you interested

The narration was good as well. I do wish we had a little more time with the leads together, the addition of the royals wasn't really necessary to the point it was written. Good story, clean (😒)

Good story if unoriginal.

Fairly well read, great for a freebie, just as good as some I've paid for.

Masterly male, feisty female

I did enjoy Landover; the arrogance tempered by humour and intelligence. Our heroine gives as good as she gets but soon grows up.

Easy Listen

Narrator was fine and the plot was okay. I listened to the end and it was an easy listen

Mills and Boon

Too much reliance on inserting historical stuff then too much agonising with cringe making hovering. Please give the reader a quick course of pronunciation

I found the story annoying

The principal character is a younger woman whe seem to pitch fits. the love interest is an over bearing man who treats the "love" of his life like a child. By today's standards there is something a little wrong about this couple coming together .

Decided to stop listening after another bruising

The author seems to think nothing of the heroine being hit by her brother, grapped by the "hero" so it leaves bruises and threatened with even more violence. I have read this is a "clean" story, but it is certainly not without mysogyny and violence. The performance is rather good. I found the insertion of historic characters without much value toward the story and as far as I can tell otherwise lax approach to accuracy more grating than gratifying.

In the end I decided I should not continue to listen to women being brutalised even though narration was pretty good.
