Summary

In the most explosive and twisted psychological thriller since The Woman in the Window, a perfect love story leads to the perfect crime.

It seemed like such a beautiful marriage....

Maddie and Ian's love story began with a chance encounter at a party, while she was a travel writer visiting her best friend, Jo. Now, almost two decades later, they are married with a beautiful son, Charlie, and living the perfect suburban life in middle America.

But when a camping accident leaves Maddie badly scarred, she begins attending writing therapy, where she gradually reveals her fears about Ian, her concerns for the safety of their young son and the couple's tangled and tumultuous past with Jo.

Following their story across the globe, 16 years of love and fear, adventure and suspicion culminate in a frantic 911 call summoning the police to the scene of a shocking crime.....

The accents???

I have never been more distracted by the inconsistency in accents in a book before. It is almost as if the female narrator was give the completely different information regarding where the character Ian was from.

I would not recommend listening to the audiobook especially if you are familiar with british accents. The Male narrator was spot on though.

The story was good overall but I would suggest read the physical book.

English Accent

I really enjoyed this book the story was a good one and I kept picking it up as it captured my sense of injustice initially. The english accent was so awful at one point I thought I can not continue listening

However it was well worth the listen

good story

good story, didn't predict the ending. The only spoil was, the first half of the narration Ian was Scottish!! When he was actually Liverpudlian.
Think the narration needed a bit more research, especially comparing Ian to Sean Connery who is Scottish. Over all though good story.

Confusing accents

The story line kept me listening but why did the narrator make Ian sound like he was Irish or Scot’s if you can’t master a scouse accent then leave it alone very annoying
