About this listen

Acclaimed Swedish author Camilla Grebe makes her solo American debut with a psychological thriller as cunning in its twists as it is captivating in its storytelling.

A young woman is found beheaded in a business tycoon's marble-lined hallway. Jesper Orre, the scandal-ridden CEO of the retail chain Clothes&More, has vanished. Who is the dead woman? And who is the brutal killer who wielded the machete?

Rewind two months to meet Emma Bohman, a sales assistant for Clothes&More, whose life is turned upside down by a chance encounter with Jesper Orre. Insisting that their love affair is kept secret, he shakes Emma's world a second time when he suddenly leaves her with no explanation. As frightening things begin to happen to Emma, she suspects Jesper is responsible. But why does he want to hurt her? And how far would he go to silence his secret lover?

A very good read

Highly recommend you read this. A great story told from 3 perspectives. Dark and complex with a very clever plot. I love how human nature in its individual flaws and complications is shown. I like Andrew Wincott's performance of a seriously flawed man. It will also reward multiple listens.

Good Novel But Poor Male Narrator

A very interesting psychogical thriller viewed from the characters perspectives. However the male narrator, in my opinion, gave a poor performance slowing down the flow of the story.

Story was great but the narration??

The story line (mystery plot) was great but I found myself wanting to skip a lot of Peter. Definitely this need was due to the narration of Peter. It just felt put on and over narrated, OVER emphasis’s on every sentence. No natural flow. This is my second novel by Camilla Grebe. And I’m glad I listened to it. It didn’t feel like the plot unfolded identically to previous read novel. So I would probably purchase another novel by grebe.

Good story let down by below par voice performance

I enjoyed the story but felt the voice artists were woefully miscast. They actor reading for Peter was far too polished and not right for a police detective whilst the actor reading for Emma gave a strange stilted performance which may have just been down to poor recording. The ending was also a little weak and lacked the horror the crime deserved.
