**A
GUARDIAN, GOOD HOUSEKEEPING, RED AND DAILY MAIL BEST SUMMER READ**

You wait ages for The One . . . then 203 come along at once

One night Lauren finds a strange man in her flat who claims to be her husband. All the evidence – from photos to electricity bills – suggests he’s right.

Lauren’s attic, she slowly realises, is creating an endless supply of husbands for her.

There’s the one who pretends to play music on her toes.
The one who’s too hot (there must be a catch).
The one who makes a great breakfast sandwich.
The one who turns everything into double entendres (‘I’ll weed your
garden’).
And the one who can calm her unruly thoughts with a single touch.

But when you can change husbands as easily as changing a lightbulb, how do you know whether the one you have now is the good-enough one, or the wrong one, or the best one? And how long should you keep trying to find out?

Editorial Review

Catharsis for life’s curveballs
After a personally tumultuous 2023, I decided to embrace a “new year, new me” mentality for 2024, and though it has now been several months, I am still finding that adjusting to change, even when positive, often feels disorienting. However, wrapping my head around entering a new chapter in my life has been made easier alongside Holly Gramazio’s debut novel. Day in and day out, Lauren grapples with the sudden enchantment of her attic, which swaps out one new husband for another on a seemingly endless loop. And while, yes, some of the men manage to woo her in the little time they spend together, The Husbands is about so much more than finding romance. The rapid changes to Lauren’s life that propel her narrative forward, from sudden adjustments to her class status to changes in her own profession, offer an endless stream of fascinating insights and undeniable humour. —Haley H., Audible Editor

This was great. And pulls off a difficult ending too. I would definitely recommend it.

A witty and thought provoking book about love friendship and being truly present in our lives

The reader did a great job with the accents helping to bring to life this wonderfully uplifting book. The author had clearly thought through what these multiple parallel lives might mean for Lauren, and although at first I thought that the book was going to just be some light entertainment I found myself considering the plight of singles in 2024 and how the dating landscape has so much potential to hurt people and warp their sense of self. Holly Gramazio treads the fine line between giving her readers a funny read, and making a far more serious philosophical point. This book really surprised me and I’m so glad that I ‘read’ it. Highly recommended.
