Summary

One red eye flight and 10 years of marriage later, Carly Bishop had what she considered a practically perfect life. Her journalist husband and her two adorable children were everything to her. But soon she would find out that her dream life didn't fall in line with her husband's expectations.

Left alone to sort out the pieces of her crumbling life, Carly finds strength in her children and her growing relationship with her in-laws. Most importantly, she finds her greatest strength as she builds a friendship with herself.

Determined to move forward and be happy, Carly does her best to make the most of her difficult situation. But will it be enough to save her marriage and the man she loves, or will his selfishness destroy everything they've worked for, including his own happiness?

uggggg, just ugggg

Yeah I'm not sure what is worse... A selfish husband that just decides to up and leave his wife after 11 years of marriage because he's just not happy and resentful of his wife and kids or a pregnant wife who holds on to a man and marriage just because she IS married?
Screw the husband and his feelings. I wanted to shake the woman and tell her that she's worth more than that. Have some self worth lady, scoop up the kids and find a real man or buck it up and go it alone.
This book is all about how much a woman is willing to be walked all over for the sake of "marriage".
It's 2021 and women already have enough issues around the world. Please Mrs author, don't add to women oppression.

Repetitive and sadly a bit dull

Carly's Husband Michael is a man-child with a huge sulk on because he isn't getting what he wants, so he leaves his wife and 2 kids. Carly herself is a woman I found difficult to warm to, she is kind, resourceful and talented and yet has very little sense of self-worth. The story is all about the separation, and how she copes, how she forges a new career and better relationships with her in-laws but I couldn't see why she would want her husband back. He had very few redeeming qualities.
For me this book was a bit of a slog and the constant internal monologue was monotonous.. The writing was very repetitive and the outcome a forgone conclusion.
On the plus side, the story was told without too much direct religion and there was no sex, violence or swearing. I don't mind those things but wanted to try a different type of writing.
I wasn't enamoured of the narrator who for me lacked any emotional warmth in the telling. The male voices were also a bit dodgy.2.5 stars.

It was ok

I was given this book for free, and I did enjoy parts of the book, but narration was not as great as usual for this narrator.

Worth a listen though.
