Summary

The sixth in the Millennium series featuring The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - more than 100 million copies sold worldwide.

"What are you going to do now?"
"I will be the hunter and not the hunted."

Lisbeth Salander's mentor and protector Holger Palmgren is dead, and she has been gone from Stockholm since his funeral. All summer, Mikael Blomkvist has been plagued by the fear that Salander's enemies will come after her.

He should, perhaps, be more concerned for himself.

In the pocket of an unidentified homeless man, who died with the name of a Swedish government minister on his lips, the police find a list of telephone numbers. Among them, the contact for Millennium magazine and the investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist. Following the scorched trail of her twin sister Camilla to Moscow, Salander nevertheless continues to watch over her old friend. Soon Blomkvist will need her help. But first, she has an old score to settle; and fresh outrage to avenge.

The next episode in David Lagercrantz's acclaimed continuation of Stieg Larsson's Dragon Tattoo series is a thrilling ride that scales the heights of Everest and plunges the depths of Russia's criminal underworld. In a climax of shattering violence, Lisbeth Salander will face her nemesis.

For the girl with the dragon tattoo, the personal is always political - and ultimately deadly.

Critic reviews

"A murder mystery inside an espionage conspiracy wrapped in an action thriller-a unique concoction that should leave Salander's legion of followers clamoring for more." (Tom Nolan)

"Salander and Blomkvist are just as compelling as ever." (Michiko Kakutani, New York Times)

"Not only do the matter-of-fact style and intricate plotting and sexy, chilling atmosphere feel very true to the original novels, but Lagercrantz transcends the source material." (Benjamin Percy, Esquire)

Liked it!

Not as good as the last one, but I'm happy with it. Is this the end of Lisbeth or will there be another one?

not as good as Stig

It took me some time to get into the book. The performance is good, but the story dragged a bit.

Not impressed

I bout the audiobook as I’m a fan of the Millennium trilogy, but this instalment disappointed me a little. The story didn’t really move me, and the narrator’s performance was quite poor.

A great read / listen

I think some of the other reviews are way too harsh. I really enjoyed the book and found it to be an engaging, action- packed conclusion to Salander’s story. There are lots of strands to the story that are woven together well. The end is a little far fetched but riveting. I think the author has done an excellent job of not only continuing the millennium series but providing a fitting ending. It’s the kind of book that it’s not worth dissecting the details and being overly critical it’s best to just sit back, immerse yourself in Lisbeth’s world and enjoy it.

Disappointedly dumbed down!

As a Lisbeth Salander fan I am left wondering if David Lagercrantz has lost interest in her and Millennium! Going forward, I'll not be investing any more time or credits on any further of the Millennium Series unless, perhaps, there is a change in author. So disappointed.

meh

this really isn't up to the standard of the earlier books. the performance is great as usual but on reaching the halfway point of the book I realised I just didn't care what was going on.

Breathtaking!!!

Very interesting plot and full of twists and turns and also a bit of action towards the end. I couldn't stop listening and was hooked from the start till the end.
