Summary

Marsh Wethers was once a legendary law enforcer in the solar system of Remus 7.

Now, he is a space hunter, a professional tracker paid to find the criminals the authorities cannot. One thing he has not been able to find, however, is the truth about a terrible crime from his past. When Marsh comes across an unlikely key that can unlock the answers to the events that have plagued him, he knows he will have to go beyond the law.

The prison ship Inferno is home to a thousand of the deadliest prisoners in the system. On route to expel the prisoners to a desolate moon with zero chance of survival, the Inferno is infiltrated by a deadly entity, which results in hundreds of these prisoners escaping.

Marsh must juggle hunting down some of these criminals, whilst investigating the murder of the princess he was tasked with protecting.

The Flames of the Inferno is the first episode of a space opera in an adventure filled with action, danger, mystery, revenge, and suspense.

So enjoyed it

I really enjoyed it. I like how the story winds across the point of view of several characters and how it moves around in time. So that when you get back to the present you have the story to how and why the characters got to where they are. I kinda need to know what happens next now!

Loved it!

Being a fan of sci-fi and humorous fiction it is always great to see them combined and boy does McElhenny tie these two together well. The sci-fi falls well and truly into the category of space opera so if you're more of a hard sci-fi nut you should probably look elsewhere. The humour is more of an undercurrent and certainly doesn't derail the plot which is a problem a lot authors fall victim to. The storyline is fast paced, never dull and peopled with many interesting characters. This is a very promising beginning to what will hopefully be a long running series.

Catanzariti's narration is absolutely spot on. The audio is crystal clear with no noticeable dips or breaks in the flow. His character voices are superb and well suited to the individuals portrayed. Hopefully he will be used in any follow-up novels.

Excellent story.

The first 5 minutes of the narration almost put me off until I realized that it was meant to sound a bit over the top.

It's a great story, I can't wait until the next listen in the series. The downside is that it's a very story - under five and a half hours, I would have liked more content for my credit.

Loved it!

Another brilliant listen from Steve McElhenny, fast paced and interesting with a large dose of Steve's sense of humour. Great characters and very funny situations that our hero Marsh, a space bounty hunter finds himself in. Highly recommended listen for Sattirrical Sci-Fi fans. Brandon Catanzariti's narration was spot on for this story and really brought things to life.
I was kindly gifted a copy of the book by the author and leave this honest review.
