Slow start, but excellent story line.

Initially I thought the story was a bit slow, but it needed to set the stage. Stay with it, it gets better and evolves into a complex mode day spy story with some clever twists. Well narrated.

Best book of the year

This book was gripping from the start. Loved it. the narration brought the characters alive and along with the superb description from the author I felt like I was experiencing what the characters did.

Plot was excellent and the protagonist a strong female made an uplifting change in this genre.

Will look for other books by this author now.

So many twists and turns

It’s really well performed and I enjoyed it. Sometimes it got confusing with the way the story jumped back and forth and all the acronyms.

OK, but not great.

Do *not* listen to this if youre into IT at all. Many of the things in it just irritate.

Why the hell would you use a stupid ASCII art method to communicate secret data, when PGP is available on any system, and there are far better ways of doing the same thing. And the finale makes *no* sense from a tech viewpoint. Performance OK, story, not so much.

Avoid.

Goodish

Good tale, well told, far too drawn out though. Could have been 50% shorter and still have said it all twice and again for luck!!

Enjoyable

I have enjoyed this book but (there’s always a “but”), it was rather too long winded in the technical computing and technological passages. I am tech savvy but numerous aspects left me cold. Also, they didn’t lend much to the story, more like a self indulgent ramble by the author.

Quite a good story

Not a bad story at all. A little slow to got going as the author laid out the background, but not bad at all. Quite technical, quite interested and modern. The only thing that irked me ever so slightly was the whole premise for discovery of the code was technically wrong, as the author confused fixed length message signing, with variable length message encryption. That said, he got everything else right, so only a small thing.
