Summary

Dear Listener,

Like the previous books in A Series of Unfortunate Events, there is nothing to be heard here but misery, despair, and discomfort, and you still have time to choose something else to listen to.

Within the chapters of this story, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire encounter a darkened staircase, a red herring, some friends in a dire situation, three mysterious initials, a liar with an evil scheme, a secret passageway, and parsley soda.

I have sworn to write down these tales of the Baudelaire orphans so the general public will know each terrible thing that has happened to them, but if you decide to listen to something else instead, you will save yourself from a heapful of horror and woe.

With all due respect,
Lemony Snicket

Critic reviews

"Despite Snicket's perpetual caveats to 'put this book down and pick up another one', the Baudelaires are dynamic characters who inspire loyalty to the inevitable end of the series." ( School Library Journal)
"Tim Curry knows just how to deliver Snicket's brand of alternately dry and over-the-top humor. The voices Curry creates are perfect." ( AudioFile)

Amazing

I liked the book because it was exciting and adventurous. The mystery was brain racking but in a good way.It gave you something to think about. I like the way Lemony Snicket always give an amazing description of objects and the way the siblings always use each other’s skills when there in trouble.I would recommend it to someone looking for drama and excitement.

I love it

It’s an amazing book, it really sucks you in I would recommend it to a lot of people another thing is that lemony, Snicket really explains everything it’s just so amazing I love the story there’s so much mystery but it’s not confusing 😀 and personally it’s my favourite book of the series I’m so glad they brought back Tim Curry.
