Summary

The bravest of heroes. The brashest of rebels. The boldest of lovers. These are the men who risk their hearts and their souls - for the passionate women who dare to love them....

He is known only as The Rook. A man with no name, no past, no memories. He awakens in a mass grave, a magnificent dragon tattoo on his muscled forearm the sole clue to his mysterious origins. His only hope for survival - and salvation - lies in the deep, fiery eyes of the beautiful stranger who finds him. Who nurses him back to health. And who calms the restless demons in his soul....

A legendary love

Lorelai will never forget the night she rescued the broken dark angel in the woods, a devilishly handsome man who haunts her dreams to this day. Crippled as a child, she devoted herself to healing the poor tortured man. And when he left, he took a piece of her heart with him.

Now, after all these years, The Rook has returned. Like a phantom, he sweeps back into her life and avenges those who wronged her. But can she trust a man who's been branded a rebel, a thief, and a killer? And can she trust herself to resist him when he takes her in his arms?

Loved every second of it. I couldn't stop listening. I think this one was my favourite so far. I loved every one of the series. Derek Perkins is brilliant he makes the stories even better. Now on to the next and last one. But I wish there would be more of this series. .

Yum

This is a great one! I’m so glad I found this author. The hero is dark and dangerous, but unlike many men of this genre, he isn’t an arrogant ass. The heroine doesn’t have a huge personality, but there’s enough excitement in the boot to make up for it. The narrator is super talented

A must read!

Another wonderful Gothic tale of treachery, love and redemption.

The story begins with the gentle and disabled 14 year old Lorelai finding the nearly dead Ash and gently nurturing him back to life. He is a man with no name, no past, no memories and is racked at night by demons.

Only after a short time they are cruelly separated; and this is the story of how Ash transforms into The Rook, the "King of the Sea", his determination to find his way back to Lorelai and ultimately how they save each other.

It is truly a wonderful love story with great characters and what I found particularly good was how the author brought the story back to the beginning and filled in all the missing pieces to a fascinating puzzle.

Again, I can't wait to read the final chapter in the Victorian Rebels series.

As ever Derek Perkins narrates the story and he captures the essence of all the characters so beautifully.

Thoroughly riveting and engrossing series!

This is the last full length story in this series (although there is a novella after this featuring two characters from this book). This one was one of my most favourite stories of this series which I listened to back to back, enjoying thoroughly the dulcet tones of the inimitable Derek Perkins! What’s not to love about this series? The men are swashbuckling and strong despite traumatic pasts, they are proud but humble, experienced yet faithful, and the women are survivors without being bolshy, vulnerable without being pathetic— the situations are convoluted and you wonder how they can possibly be survived or escaped. And through it all the characters are charming, engaging, sometimes infuriating in a good way and always heart stoppingly sexy, with the steam almost causing the device/book to go up in flames, figuratively speaking. The 19th century and its morals are described perfectly and evoked without compromising spectacular adult scenes into any prudery. Kerrigan Byrne is a spectacular story teller and writer of steamy romance. I just hope she can write as fast as I want to read her delicious books!
