Summary

A thrilling new series soars above the competition and redefines middle-grade fantasy fiction for a new generation!

The seven dragon tribes have been at war for generations, locked in an endless battle over an ancient, lost treasure. A secret movement called the Talons of Peace is determined to bring an end to the fighting, with the help of a prophecy - a foretelling that calls for great sacrifice.

Five dragonets are collected to fulfill the prophecy, raised in a hidden cave and enlisted, against their will, to end the terrible war. But not every dragonet wants a destiny. And when the select five escape their underground captors to look for their original homes, what has been unleashed on the dragon world may be far more than the revolutionary planners intended.

Editor reviews

Narrator Shannon McManus keeps up a thrilling pace with her performance of this series about seven warring dragon tribes locked in an ancient battle over a lost treasure. The secret society Talons of Peace plans to end the fighting by raising five dragonets from different tribes to fulfill a prophecy of peace. However, the dragonets leave to look for their original home and are captured by the SkyWing queen. McManus avoids getting in the book's way with unnecessary frills and goes straight to the action, detailing the dragonets' attempts to escape with breathless excitement.

A fun start to a saga

I picked this book up on recommendation from a video I watched in the past.

This comes under teen/children's fiction, but I really enjoyed the fantasy element of the story and Shannon McManus' delivery of the story was very well done.

Highly recommend even if you are an adult if you enjoy stories about dragons and fantasy worlds!

Amazing book with a great narrator!

I am ten, and I found this book amazing! It was funny and exiting and I finished it in only a few days! I’d say it’s a fun read even for adults, and highly recommend it. Tsunami is my favourite dragon, and I can’t wait to listen to book two!

My thoughts about the series

First things first this is the best book series ever, eragon being my former favourite.
The narrator is amazing and I love how 18th century British the night wings sound.
My only issue is that they never call clay their big wings after this to my memory. Only he seems to remember after this which is sad but otherwise a magnificent piece of literature, if books had Oscars or something I would nominate this work in a heartbeat.
