About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
An unmissable thriller from the number one bestselling author.
Who do you trust when everyone's guilty?
Marky Bishop is dying. That's why they've given him a compassionate early release, only where can a career criminal like him go to spend his final months?
From the outside, Glenfarach looks like a quaint, sleepy, snow-dusted village, nestled deep in the heart of Cairngorms National Park, but things aren't what they seem. The place is thick with security cameras, and there's a strict nine o'clock curfew, because Glenfarach is the last safe haven for people who've served their sentences but can't be safely released into the general population.
For Detective Constable Edward Reekie, this was supposed to be a simple delivery job—drive his new boss up to HMP Grampian and collect Marky Bishop, take him to Glenfarach, then head back home again. Nothing dangerous or complicated.
So how could it all go so horribly wrong?
The weather's closing in, tensions are mounting, and time's running out—something nasty has come to Glenfarach, and Edward is standing right in its way....

Dislike the shouting and screams. Not necessary especially when you’re listening using earbuds. Doesn’t add any

Loved this book!
I was a bit apprehensive in buying this book due to the negative reviews but I needn’t have worried. Excellently written as always with laugh out loud moments. I loved Edward’s character- the perfect foil for Victoria his grumpy superior. Hopefully many more books to come featuring this duo.

Excellent!
I love Stuart McBride and this book didn't disappoint. It's dark humour made me laugh out loud on the bus. The characters echoed his earlier books and were a return to the first books I read that hooked me. No character duo will ever live up to McCrae and Steele but I did warm to Edward and loved his personality. I almost felt like I knew him which is a testament to the brilliant writing of the Author. The action was skillfully written and kept me listening to "just one more chapter" I highly recommend this book.

Didn’t enjoy the last book… really liked this one.
Worked out what the possible twist might be and sure enough it happened, except 10 minutes later the twist untwisted and then there were another 2 or 3 twist I had t seen coming. Really enjoyed it. Recommend.

Gave up but tried again to succeed !
After giving up I delved into this book again and am pleased to say I eventually enjoyed it. If I’d read it first it would have been so, so much better.
The silly voice created for “BIG toria” was just …… 🤢. It really deserves a swear word ………. Here!
However, eventually I did like the story and enjoyed it. I think I’ll buy the book to read next time…………….

Brilliant
Honestly can’t believe some of these awful reviews. I thought the voice performances were fabulous. Yes the male interpretation of the DI’s voice took a bit of getting used to but the many other accents and nuanced performances were excellent
The story got me from the beginning and I kept wondering how it was possibly going to work out. Loved the twists and turns. Very well done Stuart

loved it
another win for Stuart McBride - loved every minute of it, but didn't see much point in having the additional female narrator

Excellent book, as always from Stuart MacBride. Made me laugh, smile, grimace, groan, sigh, wince in equal measure. Highly recommend.

Thoroughly Enjoyable
Loved these new characters. Interesting story and setting. Jings all that snow! And, threaded through with the Macbride humour and action scenes. Excellent voicing by both readers. Hope to read more about Edward and Bigtoria! :-)
