Summary

Cultivation. Magic. Empowering unwitting animals!

A thousand-year-old cultivator, Drew, is about to ascend to a higher existence. As he begins the process, he finds out he has pissed off one too many demigods. Though he manages to fight off the concerted effort of sect elders and patriarchs...he is slapped away from the higher realms by something.

After an instant or an eternity, he awakens on a lower realm! The air is filled with garbage energy, and his emotions of all things are allowing him to control it. For a cultivator that has spent his existence absolutely controlling his thoughts...that won’t do at all. To regain his place in the cosmos, he will need to create the energy his is familiar with once more...even if it might poison the entire world.

Then again...he could just take it easy and leave all the hard work to his "willing" apprentices.

Interesting but..

Kind of torn on this one. Intriguing but it kind of goes no were. It's 75% of Magic Law, 20% inner monologue and 5% action and the story just drops with no final epic battle or great reveal... So interesting but....

More like magic theory

it's like listening to a dry lecture about the fundamentals of magic not what I'm looking for in a story.

Not the mainstream

Interesting and not bad. Hard to follow, what's the point... and not really good... that's my feeling. But I'm not certain I won't try book two haha

Good unusual book

Narrator is very good.

Story and idea are unusual but I couldn't stop listening and waiting for the usual. And then I realised it was about the journey.

I however definitely enjoy author's storytelling and mastery of the language

Great story with Op Mc done right

1000 year old Mc lands on a magic world. Original premise and the execution is very good.

A slooow burner with some problems

It took a while to get what this book was about.
Effectively it's the pervy wise teacher trope, but they are the mc, not the student/s.

I like the concept, however:
- the plot drives along at a snails pace. the whole 17 hours felt like an act 1 for a complete book, at best.
- nothing significant happens during those 17 hours, nor does anything feel earned
- there are no story arcs over this book. set up, problem, solution.
- the king with low key Coprolalia, is absurd and feels really forced.
- there is little art applied in use of swearing in this book, it does little to colour, punctuate or convey.
- there are a complete lack of significant stakes or consequences for the mc.

So, I get this is probably a royal road or similar port. It may have benefitted from taking a similar path as the wandering Inn and compiling 30-40 hours per book.

I am glad this was included in my Audible subs, as I cannot recommend spending a credit on it, nor on the other books in this series.

in short, I love the concept, but it is poorly executed.
