Summary

The gripping new thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the last!

A hidden community…

Thirty years ago, in the English countryside, a commune was set up. Led by Uncle Saviour, it was supposed to be a place of love, peace and harmony. But what started out as paradise turned into hell.

A shocking abduction…

Now, two young children have vanished from their home in the middle of the night. Their parents are frantic, the police are at a loss.

A twisting case…

DI Ottoline is leading the search – her only clue a mask found in the woods. Could the key lie in events that took place decades ago, when a dream of a new way of life became something far more sinister?

Critic reviews

"Creepy and full of tension, with great characters, plenty of twists and turns, and a nail-biting finish, The Cult is a real page-turner. One of my favourite books this year." (Sarah Linley, author of The Trip)

"One of those books that grabs you by the throat and won't let go. Perfectly paced, and with an absolute kicker of an ending." (Tess Stimson, author of Stolen)

"Such a clever plot; a sinister decades-old cult and a modern-day missing children mystery, brilliantly woven together." (Jackie Kabler, author of The Perfect Couple)

Fell a bit flat

I was excited to listen to this as I love cultish books and it was an interesting read , though for some reason it didn't quite work for me. I wasn't totally invested in any of the characters and I would love to know why the author decided to call one of the characters DI Pearline Ottoline????

Fantastic!

One of the best narrations I've listened too. The narrator's voice really suits the story......and what a story!

Yes But No

Mixed feelings on this one! When I read the plot outline I was expectant for really good things but somehow I found it all a little long and at times tedious and drawn out.. Sorry!

Creepy, disturbing and thrilling - I loved it

I should start by saying that the author is my daughter. However, although I helped at the editing stage, listening to Jessica Whittaker’s powerful delivery of the finished product brought home to me how gripping and disturbing Abby Davies’s second novel is. Even though I knew what was going to happen I still found myself fully invested in the fates of Love and Lily and anxious for DCI Ottoline to save the 2 children.
