Comprehensive but often lacks practical tips

I’m collecting my first miniature dachshund in a few weeks so I’ve bought a few books to get me prepared. I saw this book and thought it is perfect as it’s specifically about the breed. I’ve just finished the book and whilst I applaud the author for covering a wide range of topics, from historical background information to health tips, unfortunately I did find it was rather simplistic, sometimes generalised and lacked practical information in key areas. I often thought it was common sense and wanted more from this book. An example, I had to do a google to find out a minimum of 24” inch size crate is widely acceptable for early years - little things like that. The section on training isn’t as comprehensive as other books I’ve read. I’d recommend this book if you want the basics and then perhaps find additional resources for more information. It is a good book to have on the shelf.
