Informative and engaging
I picked up this title for two reasons:
1. I normally HATE theology
2. I absolutely loathe Paul, who I considered to be responsible for hijacking the early Christian church and turning it into the hierarchical monstrosity that is the Catholic Church.
Well, this lecturer not only managed to keep me riveted until the very end, but actually changed my mind on a few key points. I'd always seen Paul's move away from Judaism as a way to sell Christianity to the ruling class, and totally ignored the implication of freeing oneself from the rules of Judaism and embracing personal choice as the way to lead a true Christian life.
I'm still not a Paul fan, but I feel much better informed as to his mission.
Given how few Christians are even aware of the fact that Paul never met Jesus, this course really is a must.

one of the great courses in The Great Courses
clear and detailed overview of a fascinating subject, the biblical author we know most about - established in the opening lecture as someone well deserving of our interest - but also at times brilliantly distinctive, so Luke Johnson is definitely someone we want to hear on Paul
