Summary

The acclaimed biography of the early church's greatest evangelist, the Apostle Paul. Master storyteller John Pollock makes Paul and his amazing story freshly alive, so that you can know the greatest apostle much as Luke and Timothy did as they traveled with him. As you listen, you'll sense Paul's motives, his aims and priorities; what mattered to him; and what he was willing to die for.

Real insights into the life of Paul

Really learnt a lot from the life and times of Apostle Paul. This is a great resource if you want to understand why Paul was such a great believer of Jesus Christ.

Brought close to tears regularly!

As someone who has had a fascination with Paul for a while but simply not intelligent enough to grasp his philosophical writings and teachings I was thrilled to find this book/audiobook where I could listen to a thoroughly researched and understood journey of one of the most important figures of Christian and indeed world history.

I got to go on Pauls journey, understand him as a person, understand the cultural context of his teaching and letters understand where and why there are controversies in his teaching, potentially what he was really talking about especially around the role of women in the church and the context around his statements on homosexuality. I feel very much I now understand the person of Paul and the pain and suffering he endured in pursuit of redemption for himself before his Lord Jesus and relentless fervour and zeal to bring the Gospel to all people.

I would recommend this book to anyone within or outside the Christian faith who is looking for insight to the apostle to the Gentiles (non-Jews) a Pharisee who had Christians killed and sought to destroy the fledgling church turn pioneer apostle, who considered himself the least of the apostles but the hardest working.

An excellent book

This is an excellent telling of the life of perhaps the greatest man who ever lived outside of Jesus.

A blessed story.

The finest Pauline story I have ever read. John Pollock has surpassed himself with this work. God bless all who read it,may they come to the Lord. Ronnie

The greatest man who ever lived

By the time I write this I have listened to the full audiobook three times - it is that compelling. Second only to his Master, Paul of Tarsus must be the greatest man who ever lived, who most deeply transformed the world and who most heroically surmounted vicious odds that should have made Christianity nothing but a blip in the bumbling course of civilisation. Am I exaggerating? Let this wonderful biography convince you of how the most unlikely message was preached with unrelenting passion by the most unlikely of converts in the most unlikely circumstances. Yes - the incomparable gift from God only survived to reach us through the incomparable feat of this truly exceptional man. The late John Pollock rediscovered a true hero for us, and this book deserves to be read -or listened to- many times over.

Highly recommended!

A very well written and well narrated book. Fascinating information on secular history as background to biblical record of Paul's life. Full of invaluable insights which can only evoke a love for St Paul in his unflinching faithfulness, but more deep a love for the Christ he followed.
