Summary

A riveting new novel from Danielle Steel, whose countless number-one New York Times best sellers have made her one of America's favorite storytellers.

Heads always turned when Rose McCarthy walked into a room. Nearly six feet tall, she was ramrod straight, and impeccably put together with faultless style, long graceful legs, her snow-white hair cut in a chin-length rounded cap. Her piercing blue eyes missed nothing. She could terrify anyone with a few well-chosen, soft-spoken, eloquent words, or comfort and delight a young employee with generous praise. For 25 years, she had been the legendary editor in chief of Mode magazine. Gentle, polite, supremely competent, she ran it with an iron hand, with the ultimate grace and discretion. She was known for her excellent judgment, wise decisions that always benefitted the magazine, her dedication and love of fashion....

Ok story for free

The story was what you’d expect from Danielle Steele.
The narrator was sooo boring and spoke with one tone. There were quite a few mistakes in the telling of the story and quite often DS repeated things she had written earlier in the story.
Also, why did they ALL only wear Hermes shoes??
It was ok, but I’m glad I didn’t waste a credit on it.

So enjoyable

Another wonderful story in true Danielle Steel tradition. If you enjoy sister fiction, this is a good one. Highly recommended. Excellent narration.

The voice was so calming

I was able to stop and then pick it up and start again without losing the thread of the story

Another Comforting and Absorbing listen.

Well. I’m guessing this isn’t the first Danielle Steel book you’ve read. It’s ideal for this strange time, when we are used to lockdown and the stresses of 2021. That’s why I’ve given it five stars, and the narrator was excellent. I have enjoyed other DS books more, but I wasn’t disappointed with this one. She is prolific, publishing over 6 novels a year, and some aren’t so great, but this one didn’t disappoint. The long introduction was all about the mother of four daughters but the story then took us into the lives of these four adult offspring. I was furious with one of the characters and thought Danielle a bit “dated” in her handling of parts of the book, but on reflection, I think she did a brilliant job of examining at human nature, and of course, that’s always what she does best. She also has the ability to take us away from our own lives and she leaves us wanting more. I missed the characters when the book finished. That’s why Danielle Steel has been a bestselling author for decades. I’m looking forward to her next novel already.

Monotonous and boring

Monotonous narrator, story was all about introducing different characters all the time. Good for night-time!

Avoid, the narrators voice is awful,

Narrators voice is awful, reached chapter 7 and ready to slit my throat, he is so depressing. Story line is so predictable that it isn't keeping my interest.
update
Battled to the end, after all I had paid for it, but no improvement. Surprise mixed with relief when it ended. Surprised as I could not believe it had finished when I was still waiting for a decent story to start. Relief his very odd speaking voice had stopped.

If I could give minus 🌟 I would
