A fascinating tale, reminiscent of a dungeons and dragons adventure
I loved the progression of Ahrens evolution from a young abused boy to a youth growing in confidence and skill. A heartwarming story of good triumphing over evil. It’s also good to see heroes mess up occasionally. I didn’t like the feeling that future stories of the search for paladins will probably run out of steam and become same old same old! I have seen this quite a lot with epic sagas and it’s always a bit of a let down. I hope future stories of Ahrens adventures don’t go down this route.

Brilliant story
I loved everything, the story, the thills , the narrator. All wonderful . Such a great listen. Almost addicted. And so sad when it all finally finished!!

Fabulous
I truly enjoyed this box set and now I'm looking forward to starting book 4. The story really hooks you in and I love how the characters have developed over the 3 books I have read.

Great story, great characters and well told.
Enjoyed these - found myself attached to the characters and kept me entertained in the car - enjoyed the narrators interpretation.

a great little listen about a lad who comes from a bit of a naff background but due to some weird friendly dude who kinda adopts him as his own his life takes a random unexpected turn and he is now surrounded by wafes and strays who form this unblood related family. lad grows and learns from his mistakes while trying to save the world. .. its very lotr/ potter dwarfs, elvs, familiars its a nice wholesome listen

Enjoyable
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this boxes. There's plenty of blood sweat and tears for the young apprentice, whose life is followed throughout the 3 books. Lots of characters to love and hate with a wizard who changes your attitude towards him in practically every chapter. There's plenty of humour and sarcasm throughout and finally a bit of a cliffhanger at the end which gives the impression that there's more to come!
