About this listen

A forbidden taste. An irresistible attraction.

Young, headstrong chef Slade has talent to spare but a chip on her shoulder. When she loses her job after clashing with a tyrannical boss, she reluctantly takes a private chef gig for a group of wealthy women at a lavish retreat. Little does she expect to meet Marissa Guzman, a glamorous TV personality on the brink of forty wrestling with complacency. Though on paper they have little in common, the sparks between them are instant and undeniable.

As Marissa encourages Slade to embrace her dreams of opening her own restaurant, Slade coaxes Marissa to rediscover her adventurous spirit. The future seems bright until their idyllic fling nears its end date. Can Slade focus on her second chance while still holding onto the woman who saw her potential? Or will playing it safe leave them both unsatisfied?

Dive into this steamy, sapphic age-gap that tastes too good for self-control.

Contains mature themes.

Great book!

I loved this book. The detail that went into character development and embodying the role of a chef is brilliant. The love story that develops is believable and relatable. Their love is so beautiful. Will definitely reread again.

Some amazing aspects surrounded by a bland filling

This is the first J.J. Arias book in a long time that ive felt very mixed on. It had so much that was great, the friend group was fun, the spicy scenes were some of the best J.J has written to date, the entire first half of the book is 5/5 fun, but the second half falls off hard. The author just failed to make me believe in the problem keeping the characters apart. It felt so forced, it just felt like "and heres some angst for you" type of story telling and it lasted to bloody long. All of that though could have been forgiven if i felt like the characters really grew from the experience... they don't, there is no growth. The characters are the same at the start and the end. WHERES THE GROWTH? THE ARC? What's the point of this book?

The reason why this book even has a happy ending is because the issue that "forced" them apart comes to an end. Not one of the two love interests took any risks at all, they were passive bystanders waiting for time to fix their issue. J.J's writing is so beautiful and entertaining, the spicy scenes that are next level hot, but this book just felt like it had no plan, no direction, a book to write rather than a story to tell.

Maybe im wrong, and i missed the greatness of this book, that's possible. But id ask if this is your first J.J Arias book your thinking of trying, please try something else first, The Dominion series is great, Body Check is a lot of fun with real issues being fixed and as i'm writing this i just realised the book Destination You is just the better version of this book. Wow. so yeah 2.5/5 book, not for me sadly.
