Very good, but...

this is the first and last abridged book I get. The story starts like it hasn't been introduced properly, and let's be honest, abridged books aren't how the authors wrote them - they're a third party's idea of taking a book, hacking a third of the content out, and selling it as a quick listen. I would give the unabridged version either 4 or 5 stars.



Can't fault James Lee Burke though, and the narration is spot on. Rich descriptions and circumstances made for a riveting read.

abridged versions of the works of fine writers like James Lee Burke are not appreciated.

An Abridged version is not complete and not appreciated by a dedicated reader like me. What are you doing downgrading such good work, treating it like advertising copy?
