Summary
After a disastrous high school game of spin the bottle, I gave up trying to get a boyfriend and spent my time studying instead. Now I’m twenty-four, and I’m not only a virgin, I haven’t even been kissed.
When I meet Danny, a handsome legal hotshot, he catches my eye. Right before I trip on flat ground. Ugh.
He’s got a massive … reputation. He’s the most popular guy in the club, a total playboy with a new conquest every night. There’s no way he’d be interested in me.
But one night after I imbibe too much, he winds up taking care of me. And when I ask for his help with my travesty of a social life, he agrees to teach me how to be less awkward with men … if I let him document my progress so he can win a bet with his best friend.
Even though he’s just my love tutor and I’m just his apprentice, this starts to feel like more.
Too bad it can’t be anything but a high-level seminar in how to seduce someone else.
Studious is a sweet and sexy contemporary opposites-attract m/m romance about a suave attorney who’s scared to love and the shy, nerdy bookkeeper he’s teaching how to be a player. Cue makeover montage and a smoldering first kiss. These heroes most definitely are not falling in love. (Okay, heartwarming HEA guaranteed.)

Kept my focus till the end
This is such an interesting story about two totally different guys.
Alden is pretty much an introvert. His life has been full of everything to give him no self esteem. He goes through life expecting to be treated less than.
Danny, having been broken up with right before his prom date, has vowed to not let anyone close again. It isn’t only his being broken hearted but also his view of his parents' relationship that makes him believe commitment isn’t worth it.
Then these two cross paths and things change. Danny becomes a player coach and Alden starts viewing things differently.
I really enjoyed this story. There is so much heart to it.
Declan Winters narration was perfect. Both characters sounded individual and made the story come to life.

loveable characters
honestly I fell in love with both characters and really enjoyed them gaining confidence and growing together regardless of what happened in high school (not a second chance romance).
the narration was on point and not once did I lose focus or interest.
this is only my 2nd book by Leslie but yet again I was very impressed with their story telling.

Heartwarming
The blurb sounded pretty good, so I was curious about the story.
On the one hand, there's Alden, a shy boy who is still unkissed in his mid-20s. In his new job at the firm, he meets hot lawyer Danny, one of the most sought-after guys in the gay club. Danny has a lot of experience, but also a broken heart and doesn't think a relationship is absolutely necessary. When Alden drinks too much at a company party, Danny takes care of him and takes him home without further ado. Alden confesses to Danny that he is shy and awkward, has no experience and wants to change that. So the two decide to have Danny teach Alden how to pick up hot guys.
The writing style was great, once I started reading I listened through the audiobook in one go. The characters were described in detail and I found both protagonists very likeable. Even Danny, who despite his reputation as a playboy has a reason for being the way he is. It was a pleasure to watch the teacher-student relationship and how Alden comes out of his shell and develops more self-confidence, but also how Danny develops. The story is without angst but still entertaining and enjoyable to listen to and of course there are a few hot scenes. For me, it was a plus point that the focus was placed on the emotional level and it was wonderful to see how their relationship developed.
Declan Winters narrated the audiobook and he did a good job of bringing out the personalities of Danny and Alden. He brought the story to life with his pleasant voice.
A sweet and wonderfully written story with no angst that kept me entertained.

Heartwarming
And so much more!! Dynamic characters you can't help but fall in love with and be rooting for from page 1. I love the way Leslie intertwines the pain and backstory just enough to hook you while revealing more as the story unfolds.
Danny was a bold, charismatic character with a hurt heart and really enjoyed his character development and the honesty between him and Alden throughout the story and "to the audience/reader" as he fell in love.
Alden is just a pure sweetheart I want to hug. You can't help but feel for him and I loved to see his confidence grow! These two are made for each other and I loved their story and the audio performance by Declan is phenomenal!!! Highly recommended read (& series).

The shy one tames the player
Two almost polar opposites get together in this lovely romance. One thing both Alden, (the shy nerd) and Danny (the player), have in common is that both of them have had past heartache/events that have made them what they are today.
I really enjoyed the story, the premise of a nerd wanting to get bedroom experience and an experienced person willing to give it, is one of my favourites :) Where this story differs is that it focuses more on the emotional growth of the 2 men and not so much on their more physical experiences, though the kissing experiences were definitely swoony!
Overall, a lovely, low angst, steamy and fun story.
Declan Winters is a favourite narrator of mine, so I jumped at the chance to listen to this. I enjoyed his voices for the characters, loved Danny's especially, it was seriously hot! I had imagined Alden at a lower (younger) register, so that took me a while to get used to (but that is my bias).
Overall, another way to enjoy the the story in the IOU series.

Super swoony & perfect narration!
This was super cute & the audiobook narration was perfect. This is only the second book I've listened to by Leslie McAdam so I didn't really know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised.
The story opens with a prologue for each character giving us their reasons/background stories for why they are who they are when it comes to emotions & relationships in the present. I really appreciated that the story started this was as opposed to us being held in overdpne suspense as to why Danny is the "no repeats" guy that he is.
Our other MC, Alden Meyer, is twenty four years old and has never been kissed. He is shy and finds dating & talking with new people difficult, but he has enough confidence to ask his new boss/coworker Danny for help in that department.
Though Danny's external reasons for agreeing to help Alden are a bit thin, internally his thoughts are almost always about how he likes Alden just how he is and doesn't want to change him, but instead wants to help give him more confidence. And I really appreciated that!
I enjoyed this so much I immediately went back and listened to book 1, and plan to listen to the future books as they are released on audio too.
*I received an ALC of this book, all opinions are my own*

Fun Listen
I love a great mother character who’s completely accepting of their gay son. So this book hit that note perfectly right away since I had two amazing mothers.
Okay, on to the story.
I have to say Alden stole my heart. An awkward teen, in the prologue, who was trying to find his way in the world. Even his amazing friend Mason couldn’t prevent him from a disastrous near first kiss that ends him up as the butt of jokes for most of high school. Yikes. He’s made his way through life and is now a successful bookkeeper. He likes numbers. Numbers are safe. Numbers aren’t going to make fun of him or let him down. He’s also got Mason, who’s on the other side of the world, and his mom who’s going through a health crisis. He’s got a pretty busy life.
Then, when he attends the afterwork party on the Friday of his first week as bookkeeper for a gay-friendly law firm, his life changes forever.
(Quick note – loved the cameo of the couple from the first book…)
Danny’s a successful lawyer with a string of wins in the courtroom. He’s on top of the world. He also, after having his heart broken on prom night, has decided love is for suckers. He doesn’t do repeats, but he’s incredibly, uh, talented. Makes him a favorite at the local gay club. So he’s a player or sorts. In high demand but having to keep at bay the men who want more. He doesn’t do more.
When he finds Alden needs assistance after overindulging, Danny helps. It’s in his nature. And he’s taken with Alden – this innocent guy who admits to never having been kissed. Danny’s got a solution – and it’ll help himself out in the process. He’s got a bet going with a buddy. So he sets out on a mission: to make Alden a player. Successful at not just kissing but also bedding men.
Alden agrees because, in his mid-twenties, he’s never even been kissed.
Things get complicated when Danny suddenly wants to be all Alden’s firsts.
I have to say I really enjoyed this book. I didn’t know what I would get when I dove in. The story just…worked. And the mothers were amazing. Oh, and the cat was perfect.
To round out the perfection, Declan Winters narrated the story. I’ve listened to him back-to-back on completely different projects and I have to say he nailed both. He was great with this one. I hope to hear more from him and I definitely want more Leslie McAdam.

Very enjoyable story and narration
I really enjoyed listening to this story. Declan Winters did a great job with the narration, matching his style and character performances to suit the story and the two main personalities. Although I don't normally like first person/present tense stories, he drew me in and made me want to continue until the end.
The prologues for both characters were heart-wrenching, but set up the story very well.
These guys were opposites, but ideally suited and very likeable. I loved how Danny treated Alden and encouraged him to become confident and able to say what he wanted. The way their relationship developed was lovely, with quite a few steamy scenes. Will definitely listen to this one again.

Lovely audiobook!
4.25 Stars!
This was such a delightful audiobook! Declan Winters did a fantastic job with the narration and bringing Alden, Danny, and the rest of the characters to life.
Alden was a sweetheart and I loved him from the get-go. While I liked Danny, I was frustrated that it took him so long to get past his hangups with having a relationship when it was way obvious that Alden was perfect for him.
The story was really good, though, with several additional characters I wouldn't mind reading more about, and a spicy and sweet plot, and just enough angst to keep things interesting.

A sweet and sexy story.
Studious is the second book in the IOU series but it can be read as a standalone. Characters from the first book only appear briefly in this story.
While there are several hot scenes in this book, overall, I felt it was really sweet. The characters were likeable, even Danny (the man slut) was very likeable. He never pretended to be anything other than what he was – a one-night-only hook-up guy. Alden was painfully awkward around people, especially men, and he desperately wants to find someone to have a relationship with.
This story really held my attention from start to finish. I enjoyed seeing Danny’s slow progression from a one-and-done guy to a man who cared deeply for Alden. Alden’s progression from a shy, awkward, nerdy young man to one with more self-confidence was also well done.
There was one passage that really tickled me. Early in the story Danny takes Alden home with him after he gets drunk at an office get together. The next morning Danny asked him how he feels and Alden replies: “I feel like someone put out a hit on me, but the hit man changed his mind halfway through and didn’t finish the job.”
When things started to heat up between Danny and Alden, Danny was still so careful with Alden, making sure that everything that happened between them was what Alden really wanted.
